Welcome, my name is Alana Stewart. I am a Registered Art Therapist who holds a strong belief that creativity and human wellbeing are linked. I also believe that, with the right support, every person can heal, grow and flourish.
We all crave connection and to feel a sense of who we are and feel that what we can offer contributes value to those around us. Unfortunately, for some of us, certain life experiences can disrupt this human need for an embodied sense of purpose and self-worth. Whether it's trauma, mental health challenges, disability or illness, experiences like these can be very isolating and cause us to feel disconnected from the sense of belonging, purpose and value that we crave.
I hold a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Art Therapy and have done specialist training in trauma informed approaches to mental health therapy. I have worked with many people with disabilities, mental illness and backgrounds of trauma, and I have worked within healthcare/community services for over six years. With my approach to psychotherapy, I help people to gain better mental health and help the brain to heal through activating the creative mind.
I welcome you to my private practice and invite you to find a sense of safety with me so that together we can explore the topics that may arise. I offer counselling alongside art therapy. You are free to express yourself verbally or explore the art materials and the creative process. *No skills required. Children, adolescents and adults are all welcome.
