I regularly go there for Coffee (Amanti is the way coffee beans should be), orange flour-less cake and sticky date pudding, which are all awesome in my opinion. Their coffee is Perfect*, but, like many others, they lack consistency. The barista on Sundays is the best, he makes it perfectly and seemingly all the time, touch wood. Rest of the baristas fluff it up in one way or the other, mostly by making it too strong, resulting in overly bitter after taste, but its still good than most. I just hope they are ready to serve coffee at 7:30AM. Just because they don't, I go to huff bagelry next door. I also hope they keep their prices competitive as they are. I, like most of the people, hate to pay more than $3.50 for a large latte, regardless of how good it is.
Approximate cost: $3.50
I love this place, and what's more i love the homely feel. There is always homemade Figjam sitting on the bench ready to be served with scones or croissants...hence the name!
Awesome roasted vege foccacias too!
Approximate cost: $8
Very deceptive cafe. Actually has three separate eating areas inside including covered courtyard which is very nice as well as street seating out the front. Very busy by 11.30 am on w/end. Free range poached eggs and bacon for brunch were very good. Freshly squeezed OJ with ice was excellent.
Nice looking cafe and food was quite nice but service was slow. I enjoyed the fruit toast and the coffee was average. I think they need to work on their organizational skills. They looked a little disorganized. Open for breakfast and lunch
Approximate cost: $15
A little slow for us as well but the place was packed. The vegie omelette and Figjam Deluxe was worth the wait. We wil be back.
A nice local little cafe situated on the main shopping strip of Carnegie. The food is fresh and great tasting, prices are mid-range and the atmosphere is pleasant.
Approximate cost: $10-$20
This place is great. It's got a casual, laid back atmosphere that is perfect for a light meal and a coffee while sitting back and watching the people go by. They make a mean chai latte, drool worthy cakes and sandwiches and a pretty decent menu, this place is worth a look. And a plus for all the gluten intolerants out there- they know what it is and are currently double checking suppliers and will adjust menu items for you.
Helen exudes greek-cypriot charm and warmth and along with her husband and lovely daughter zoe are a gorgeous greek family that make great coffee in this area. The only problem is that it gets a bit crowded on the weekend otherwise bravo re pethia!!
“I went there with my Mum this afternoon and I got myself a Tiramisu for $5 so I”…

time to update the review. I guess its common knowledge that their coffee quality went down the hill in 2010.
They increased their coffee prices by over 10% few months ago but atleast coffee is better, not quote like when in 2009. I guess the new female barista (first time I ever saw a female barista at Figjam) is making the difference.
