My husband and I dined early on Saturday night and were seated upstairs. At that point, it was wonderful; quiet and intimate but did get noisy as the restaurant filled.

I ordered the barramundi special of the day and I can honestly say it was the best cooked piece of fish I have ever had in a restaurant. Truly, truly delicious. My husband enjoyed his main meal too. We were a little disappointed with dessert as it was very rich but plain tasting at the same time.

However, I could not fault the service or the ambience so will return again.

I've been here many times and I have always been pleased with the chef suggestions (on the board) as I get to try something new each time and have always been impressed with the combination of flavours. I've always had polite and friendly service. Only trouble is it does book out quickly, so I need to book in advance - I guess it not just my favourite.

Cant say I was all that impressed. Food was a little over cooked and not cheap. Have only been there a couple of times for friends birthdays but wouldn't go back just for a meal for myself.

I went to this restaurant with a group of friends. We were all very disappointed. The service was terrible we had to find someone to serve us. I had a pumpkin risotto and the pumpkin was still hard I couldn't stab it with my fork & it couldn't be cut with a knife! It was a really disappointing night. I hope they have improved.

I find that hard to believe as I am now a regular of this restaurant and eat there approximately every two weeks. The staff always remember me and have always given great service and I am yet to have a bad meal here. Maybe you should give them another try

Love this venue and were pleased to see its charm still in evidence. The food we had was quite delicious and defenitely the highlight. Unfortunately the service was terrible, while reading our menus several waiters wanted to take our orders and then no-one came back for ages, we had wait a very long time and even check what happened to our meals, watching tables who ordered after us eating. Then at the end thought we might have something to finish but 15 minutes after deciding and no sign of a waiter we left.

Great service and food, but not overly expensive. This restaurant has been renovated so well that I think it is the best decked out restaurant in berwick. They also have a bar which is great for drinks and snacks and can also be hired out for parties

Approximate cost: $23

I've eaten at EightyOne a number of times - with largish groups (6-8) and also just the husband and I, and I've always enjoyed it. Ambiance is great (in the front area especially), good selection of wines, staff always pleasant and chatty, consistently good food, and not too pricey! Personally, I find Moodz and Ashcotts a little noisy and cafe-ish, so I was really pleased when EightyOne opened up.

I went to EightyOne last night and unfortunately, the food was not as good as previous occasions. Starters great, 3 out of 5 mains questionable. Steak overdone, snapper fillet with lots of bones, and the best by date of the salmon had surely passed. Service & ambiance still good but we won't be back - overdone steak I can cope with, but questionable produce never.
