This restaurant sort of looks like a Chinese restaurant but has Thai, Malay, Indian and steak dishes on the menu. I would focus on the house specialties which go beyond the generic and Australianised Chinese food. In fact we went in here to try some of the specials.

Let's just say that the seafood combination off the specialities menu was better than the other dishes we ordered. I am curious if they don't have something among the wide variety of dishes that is actually good.

I'll keep this short. Don't even think about going there. I can't remember actually eating worse food in a restaurant environment. It is well below food court Chinese standard. There was nothing fresh tasting about it. a voucher deal for 2 bought in haste for the buffet which was very disappointing to say the least.

Approximate cost: $22

I had a very poor experience. I wrote to the resturaunt using the link on their website and had no reply. a week later I wrote the same email using the email address on their site and had no reply. I firmly beleive in giving people a chance, but this resturaunt clearly has no intention of addressing issues. Here is what I wrote:

Dear Sir, I am writing to express my utter disappointment at the dining experience I had at you establishment. This would honestly be the poorest dining experience by a long shot, that I can remember.

The voucher spoke of A hidden gem of the Strathpine, serving fresh and authentic Oriental cuisine. Take your pick from over 40 choices of entrees, main dishes, salads, soups, and dessert. suggesting that the $47 I paid for 4 people was worth $105.

To be honest, for the price, I wasn't expecting a wonderful gourmet selection, but I was expecting something at least reasonable. I had also seen many very poor reviews of the restaurant, but had hoped they were just bitter cynicists.

There was nothing fresh or authentic about the selection I was presented with. I would have considered it the same standard selection you find at almost any shopping centre food court if it weren't for the fact that half of the bain-marie’s were empty. I could select from bain-marie’s that were either full because the food looked old and dry and customers did not want to touch it, or empty because they had not been refilled. during our time there we saw only four of the many empty bain-marie’s filled, and the small amount that came out was not even hot. this was at 7:00 on a Friday evening, a time when most restaurants are doing their best trade.

the staff, while pleasant enough, were very inattentive. after a staff member finally came to take our drinks order, ten minutes late my wife asked her if our drinks were coming and the staff member couldn't remember serving us.

I am very sorry to say, but we could have spent $40 at the Chermside food court Chinese stall and had a much better meal as well as better service and atmosphere.

I had brought my wife, child, mother and brother for what I had hoped to be a pleasant evening, with some nice food. If it hadn't been for the fact that it was already paid for, we would have gone elsewhere straight away.

I would very much appreciate your response to this feedback.
Thank you,
Greg.

This would be the worst chinese TAKEAWAY i have ever had, special fried rice made up of dried rice with very little of anything else, not good.. The battered pork in sweet and sour sauce was disgusting, bite into the pork and the oil just oozes out of it, I think the sweet and sour sauce must have been a jar type as it was a shocker. overall not a good experience... MAYBE THE BUFFET IS BETTER?

Approximate cost: $12

Double Golden Dragon used to be awesome on its Buffet. I would take the whole family there regularly but the quality has dropped a little lately. I do hope that it improves as it was always great to eat there.

This restaraunt has the BEST all you can eat buffet for under $20 per person that includes mains, entrees, deserts like jelly and cheesecakes, and lots of soups as well. The take away menu is great but a bit over priced in some items. They prepare the meal and bring it out very fast, and they pride themselves on how fast they work and keep everyone happy.

Approximate cost: $20
