This is the 'to go to place' if you are after authentic Italian cuisine. Its a little small inside but they have two outdoor eating area which are both undercover. The service is good but nothing to rave about. They are friendly & assertive. The food on the other hand is delicious, fresh and simple, which is what I prefer. The prices are not excessive on the menu items & they other a range of smaller dishes to main size. The menu can be confusing but the staff are helpful. On many occasions we purchase jamon, crusty bread & buffalo mozzarella to take home. They also sell tomato sauce base & fresh pasta take away. Overall. a lovely little eatery, traditional in many ways but definitely a place to check out.

love the location how it's sort of tucked close to the corner, always busy sometimes too noisy but the service is definitely great, all the staff speak in italian it felt like is was quite genuinely, an italian place on lygon

their drinks are decent, had a glass of red which was light and okay, pretty chill and relaxed atmosphere, great for a casual, but tad fancier catch up with friends

I wish all the "Italian" restaurants in Carlton were like this !

The deli has an amazing array of cheeses, wines, antipasto - You can sample at the counter, and have the selection as a tasting platter. A perfect option to sit outside on a summers day with a glass of wine.

Next door at the cafe, we ordered coffees (great coffee) and an amazing rotolo with buffalo mozzarella & salmon on a rocket salad, and a risotto-like dish made with quinoa, asparagus, lemon, goats curds. The flavours were punchy & such a beautiful meal for summer.

The pasta looked amazing - will give that a try next time.

Give me this over the other options on Lygon street !

Approximate cost: $20-25 per head

Right next door to Carlton Espresso Cafe. It is part of the group which runs DOC Pizzeria & Carlton Espresso.
An excellent delicatessen - beautiful modern, minimalist fitout - the preparation space behind glass & shelves are well placed for an interesting shopping experience.
As you walk through the store checking out the products on the shelves, seeing the chefs at work slicing the gourmet smallgoods or making fresh pasta for next door/to take home.
They have a high quality, diverse range of produce on offer. All the usual standard items and more unique specialty items too - such as preserved porcini mushrooms from Puglia, 100yr Balsamic Vinegar, Wagyu Beef Bresaola, Serrano ham.
They also stock a selection of italian wines and beers.
Upstairs there is a working/dining space where culinary master classes & private dinners are hosted.
