A warm and inviting local resturant, the staff where extremely friendly and helpfull, and the food was delicious!

Dined at this place with a large group of friends. At first glance, the cafe is funky- very popular with the young and hip folk. I started to think of how lucky i was to have a 'city like' dining area to go to not far from my place at all but that all changed by the end of the evening. They had a band playing so we had to talk loudly to hear ourselves which is fine given the ambience they are trying to create. Service was ok to begin with but it just got worse and worse as the evening wore on. My beef wellington was chewy and gristly so i wasn't really impressed there. We had to keep getting up and going to the bar to order drinks as the service was slow. Then came the thing which really ate at me- the ultimate in stupidity. We waited for a very long time for someone to ask us if we wanted to order desserts. In the end, we asked for menus but were told the kitchen was closed- at 9.30pm on a Friday night. What!? We could pretty much only order slices on display- boring. Out of four waitresses, only one could offer ok service, the rest had the facial expressions of bouncers ready for a fight- you could tell they didn't want to be there and simply wished to go home. We ordered coffees which came out luke warm, when one of our diners dared to request a hotter coffee, a different waitress came out, popped it on the table and had the audacity to say, "it's about 500 degrees now so that should be hot enough". What a disgraceful attitude. As you can imagine, there is no way i'll be going back. As far as service goes, this is the worst i've experienced this year.

If I was to go all Gordan Ramsey on this place I would say they just don't know what they want to be. Are they a sports bar, an intimate dinning or bistro set-up, do they want classic deco or uber-modern? There is a little bit of everything and this confusion is reflected in the staff and service.
While my evening was nice enough, I felt there is a lot of room for improvement. Apparently EVERYTHING on the menu comes with 'chipsnsalad' whether the dish needs it or not. Half the beer's in the fridge and on tap were not listed in the menu. We were given three menus (drinks, food and pizza) and each one had some prices whited out, the laminate was coming apart and they hadn't been cleaned in a while.
When I would have liked another drink I turned around to see all the wait staff standing at their bar looking out over the sea of dinners - waiting to pounce on anyone who looked like they needed serving - but they never looked my way.
The meals were too big but I can't complain about value for money - even if both my husband and I couldn't finish the meals!

Visited here with the husband and a couple of friends last Sunday evening for dinner. They have live music on a Sunday between 2.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m., which seems to be pretty popular. Food is great - good choice of meals, including yummy salads and specials.

This a fantastic cafe/restaurant. There is a restaurant, or couches in front of a fire. There is also a sports bar, and an outdoor area. The meals are really good and cheap. There is a great selection of meals you can choose from, and there are two big plasma's in the sports section of the cafe.
