Now trading as Cradle Mountain Hotel, it has retained the warm (literal and metaphorical) atmosphere of the previous version. Good value and tasty food, although some of the decor is beginning to look a bit dated.

Loved it. Our room had a woodfire and a spa bath which were great for warming up after spending a day in the cold elements. The service was faultness, the rooms were beautiful, luxurious and clean, and we woke up to a foot of snow! You can't ask for more!

Five stars across the board for this place, the rooms are amazing, the food is outstanding and when we stayed we could sit on our balcony and watch wallabies with tiny joeys in their pouches and wombats just grazing around, magic! The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had at a hotel, and we had dinner included in our room price. I had the truffle pasta and it was so decadent! Also worth checking out is the art gallery and gift shop, as well as a walk around Dove Lake which is about a ten minute drive away.

Approximate cost: $300

This was a lovely place to stay. It is warm and cosy with lots of little nooks to curl up in a comfortable couch and read a book should the weather be inclimate. The restaurant is great and the bistro style buffet is as good as you would expect. We used the chateau as our base for all our Cradle Mountain adventures and it is in a great location for this.
The staff were warm, friendly and helpful at all times. Be warned that the 'balconies' in the rooms are minimal to say the least, however the view from our room of the native bushland more than made up for it.

Approximate cost: $230

I have been there to stay at least 5 times, and the place is fantastic. The facilities are really great, with resturaunt's, sitting room, library, and lots of walks. Not to mention the Wilderness Gallery, which is in the grounds. The staff was fantastic.

Approximate cost: $139-270
