Amazing everytime. We love this place and found it by mistake oneday drivimg past and seeing the kids playground. Decided to stop for lunch and its the best thing we ever did. The chicken parmis are the best in town. The playground and grass area is amazing. At night its very pretty with the lights abd local artists singing. Even have a pool for hot days. Highly recommed if you are looking for a very kid friendly pub.

The commonwealth hotel still offers great portioned suzed meals at cgeap prices. The beer garden always seems to get a nice breeze and they have karaoke and other events on the weekends which are fun.

The Commonwealth hotel provides the best value pub style meals in all of Townsville in my opinion. There is a nice range of very good tasting pub style meals at the cheapest prices I've seen in the local area. The pick of the menu for me is their reef and beef meal which includes a big piece of rump steak, garlic prawns, salad and vegies/fries for under $25 which is generally less than you would pay for just a piece of steak at other venues. They run specials each day also which are generally only $7 for the meal which are unbeatable. The pub itself is a very old style venue with the main bar receiving a nice coastal breeze in the afternoon. Patrons can either eat their meals inside or in the shaded beer garden depending on preference. There is regular live music at the venue advertised times and dates on the pin board. The Commonwealth is great for a good meal and drink with friends and is one of the only hotels left that I know of that do not feature poker machines, priding itself on its great customer service and value drinks and meals.

Approximate cost: $10-25

The food is cheap and filling. The bar service however is a bit slack. In fact it seems that if you are a regular you will get served first. And if you are a solo female certain staff will find all manner of little jobs to do before even acknowledging your presence. Also, I don't recommend the place for youngsters. The swearing among customers is almost non-stop. That said, an okay place for the workingman to unwind with his mates and have a cheap feed.

The staff have no idea how to pour a beer or do the simplest thing behind the bar, the food is cheap but for good reason it is very poor quality. The place is dirty and very uninviting I will not be returning
