Very similar to the Collingwood Children's Farm, Ceres offers organic produce, family friendly activities, beautiful garden/farmyard surrounds, art/craft markets and a great cafe.
CERES carries a really good sense of community. They host classes on how to create your own cider, make pasta, cooking for special dietary needs, grow your own veggie garden, with herbs, flowers anything really for the beginner gardener to the more experienced.
Right in the middle of this oasis next to the bike hub is the Ceres Cafe. Most tables are within range of shelter, but otherwise outside on wooden or plastic stools with large communal tables. It is very casual, but comfortable. Great for kids.
The menu is mouth watering but not cheap. Think interesting and creative options, featuring organic produce of a brunch/lunch variety. Coffee is fairtrade.

Ceres market is a Saturday morning tradition for me & my family, since moving to Melbourne. The organic fresh produce is excellent quality and I haven't found anywhere to beat their pricing. While I gather veggies, herbs & fruit, my family enjoys the music provided by different musicians/bands each week, we then treat ourselves to the best coffee & pastries in town.

We love the wholesome, earthy atmosphere at Ceres.

Wonderful earthy atmosphere. Lots of chooks and farm animals around. Often hippie musicians are performing on site as people shop. Great range of food, mostly grown on site! If you're a greenie and into organic, you will love it. Can be a bit expensive and prices are occasionally higher than Organic Wholefoods (not far off in Lygon st, who compete for customers). Annoying to shop in very hot or cold rainy weather, as it is mostly outdoors. Also a bit of a trek to lug all your groceries to the car. Best take a buddy along to shop here, and you will have a nice experience.

Approximate cost: $not too bad

Very cute little market, support Ceres by going and trying it out. It will be worthwhile in value and you will get to explore other things Ceres has to offer.
