Sam and his team are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The quality of their produce is always top notch. I can highly recommend the in-house made ham and smoked chicken breast. My friends request the home-made sausages (try the pork, pear & sage) when I visit. The great thing is that most of the stuff is gluten free and there is lots of info about where the meat actually comes from (& a great range of yummy sauces to go on top!). If you are after great quality meat and that neighbourhood feel then I would highly recommend Cannings.

I was first lured into Cannings by the 4 week+ dry aged beef and by now I have pretty much tried everything they stock. When you eat meat from Cannings you can really taste the quality of the animal, especially in the fat, in fact it is the only place I buy meat nowadays. Expect to get hooked on the dry aged grass fed Cape grim beef, Berkshire pork, Hazeldene chickens and Victorian lamb; in fact what is there not to love great products served by friendly staff and a wacky boss.

The meat and food from here are always of extremely high quality, fresh, tender and always has excellent service from the friendly team. This is defiantly the place to buy the ingredients for a meal to impress.

Weekends are my favourite time to shop at Cannings. I head there Saturday morning to buy delicious free range bacon and eggs for breakfast. I also love buying one of their free range chooks on Saturday so I can poach it and make stock - I like knowing that my stock will be full of all of that healthy goodness and no chemicals! I also make sure I grab big, fat slices of their free range smoked ham for lazy Sunday dinner toasties! Can't recommend Cannings enough.

The meat is always tender, tasty and fresh. The salmon is also fantastic. Sam and the gang are friendly and always happy to help.

You can shop here safe in the knowledge that whatever you buy, it is 100% free range and has been farmed humanely. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and more than fulfill the role of your friendly local butcher. They have a very wide selection of products not just the usual suspects, it's well worth visiting. We bought our Christmas ham here and it was beautiful. Highly recommend.
