A very intimate little club which takes it music seriously. It has a sign up that advises that it is a listening venue - so if you want to sit back and relax with a glass or wine or two it is the place for you. If you are in a loud group and want to have a chat - consider going elsewhere. It is a very intimate venue with lots of tables and chairs. The downside - it is small and books out quickly so not so good for those spur of the moment evenings. Bar prices are reasonable and cover charge changes depending on the act.

I have only attended this venue on one occasion after being invited by jazz music loving friends.

I will be honest .... I am not a jazz fan and had never heard of this place until I was invited to go along one weekend evening.

Its a very cosy venue to sit back, have a drink and listen the band.

Overall, I recommend this place if you want a good night out in the city.

Definitely the best jazz club I have ever been to . . . . you go there to have a drink and enjoy listening to the live music - it's not just music playing in the background like a lot of other clubs and bars. Central Melbourne location but can be a bit obscure to find the club the first time you visit as its entrance is down a lane way (Bennett's Lane).

Great Music for jazz or sometime blue even on the week day. Have a drink, relax and listen to the beautiful music. Have to check out Bennetts Lane if you like Jazz and visiting Melbourne

Bennetts Lane is in my opinion the premium Jazz Bar in Melbourne and most likely Australia.. when a well regarded Jazz musician comes to town that's where they play.. It is notorious for its strict "no talking during the performance" policy which is well enforced by the staff.. this can sometimes be seen as rude or uptight, but the fact is there's enough music venues where the music is for background atmosphere and not for dedicated listening..
