This was a great fish and chip shop. I was rarely disappointed with the standard of their fried yummies! The only reason I am giving it a one star rating is that sadly, it is no longer there!

Oh my lord!! These were the best fish and chips I have had in such a long time. We used to love Green Forest in Upwey, but recently moved a bit further out, and thought we'd try Bell's. Certainly glad we did. Sheets all over the fish and chips shops in Emerald. Much rather travel to Bell's. The chips were PERFECT. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. AMAZING!! If I had one criticism, it would be that the potato cakes and spring roll I had were real oily. Having said that, I don't think of that as too great a problem because the taste and crunch factor was superb. Who eats fish and chips as a healthy meal anyway? Recommend them highly. Try them tonight!!! So good.

Not overly excited, cheap but then you get what you pay for. Hubby, kids and I tried the other one a few doors down, that was proper fish (fresh) and real not frozen potato cakes. Service excellent and always friendly.

From my experiences, the other fish and chip shop have always used frozen potato cakes (they do get fish fresh from the market though) and bells have almost always made their own potato cakes from scratch, unless they run out on a busy night (ie. Fridays).
Good service and great tasting fish n chips. Best in Belgrave.
Generous serving of chips. Busy on Friday nights but can ring through order to save waiting.

good burgers, crispy chips and good mash potato cakes, quite a small shop so i ate outside. a nice little place with a plasma TV and good magazines not like most fish and chips shops it does the job for my taste buds, something I'd recommend

Lovely chips and burgers and good fast service, but wouldn't recommend their fish or potato cakes. So oily, really pretty gross. Prices are good however, and some people don't seem to mind the oiliness.

Certainly has been downgraded in the past few weeks. Food was oily and overcooked. It was not to its usual standard. I am very disappointed in this store now.

The potato cakes had no potato in them, they were only batter, and over cooked, tasting oily. The fish had no meat, once again it was only batter. This is only since the new owners have taken over in the past few weeks. It is DISGUSTING!!! The staff did not listen to my order and got it very wrong - and then argued with me about what I requested. They were rude and arrogant. I would not recommend Bell's Fish and Chips any more.

Good job commenting on yourself for starters........ Just as a note, the new owners have JUST taken over and didn't previously work in that industry so they are still trying to find their way, give them some time and don't give up - they'll get back to how they used to be.
i went down there last week, the staff were really friendly and not as arrogant as what you say.. firstly how sad are you to comment on yourself like bink said give them a chance to find their way.. i think you just have a problem with the new ownership from what im feeling..
