I love Thai food and when I first moved to Trinity it was the first place I wanted to try,
I have eaten Thai all over oz and this was the worst.
I ordered a green curry, there was hardly any chicken in there and the fennel was so overpowering.
Never again.
Approximate cost: $20.
Having lived in Trinity for more than 8 months, people told me how great the Bangkok Rose was for Thai food.
We gave it a go....
....we decided to grab the takeaway so probably not the best way to try it.
We had 2 different dishes to share, one of which was the green Thai curry. Hhhmm? I've personally never had fresh fennel throughout a curry like this. I found it very overpowering and as much as I like fennel, it certainly ruined the green curry. It was nice and spicy with plenty of fresh vegetables so without the fennel it would have been much better.
Even though we didn't enjoy the first eating experience at the Bangkok Rose, I would give it another go.
Why not give it a go yourself?
Approximate cost: $15.00

Sadly, Bangkok Rose never worked as a restaurant, in part, because of the owner's truly dreadful attitude. Add very ordinary food and a soul-less location, and the damage has been done. As a long term Trinity Beach resident, and an equally long time visitor to TB prior to moving here, I remember Bangkok Rose's predecessor, Choc Dee, with fondness. But when. Choc Dee moved to Palm Cove and Bangkok Rose opened in its place, the life went out of the place. Wise to give Bangkok Rose a miss, and check out Choc Dee, instead.
