The wait is usually the most painful part of being at this hospital! They have some great staff although alot can be rude due to a big language barrier.
No one wants to go to hospital but definitely not this one
Ive witnessed mice in the light casings in the roof!!!!

Hi Amberr4, thanks for a well rounded review. We too have experienced problematic issues relating to the language barrier that you mentioned. This is becoming a frequent problem that has the potential to affect patient care and wellbeing. As for the mice in the ceiling, this is somewhat disconcerting but not surprising. Unfortunately, we have found that patient care can vary considerably within the afore-mentioned facility which is disappointing. On a slightly different note, we (strongly) recommend that patients wear appropriate footwear during their stay (particularly within the Emergency Department), as we have personally witnessed foreign objects (glass) being surgically removed from a patient’s hand/foot, only to be accidentally dropped on the floor, thus placing subsequent patients at risk. Thanks again, Reeces

I've been to the Emergency Room at Base Hospital 6-8 times, 3-4 by ambulance, others through the front door. With the possibility of heart attack they promptly hooked me to a monitor, treated pain and drew blood for tests. Then I was there for 6-8 hours at which time they took another blood test to find out for sure if I had had a heart attack. Someone came in every 10 min or so to check on me. I've always appologised for taking up their time for nought and they have always said it's better to be safe than sorry. I came in with a cut through my eyebrow after a fall and the doctor did an excellent job of stitching it up. The scar is hardly noticable. Though when I came in with a splinter in the forefinger of my right hand they were not impressed. They must not have been at all busy because I only had to wait 10 to get it seen to. It provided the easiest job the doctor had all day. The doctors and nurses were all professional and friendly. On a couple of occassions they admitted me. The nurses were professional and friendly. They took good care of me. If you need a hospital this is a good one to be in.

Approximate cost: $nil
