I attended this school to undertake a diploma of Specialised makeup services, and it was woefully inadequate.
The facilities are poor - terrible lighting on the makeup side, only certain mirrors have lights (and they are a terrible colour cast). The makeup kit that you pay retail for $1200 doesn't even contain everything that you would need to start freelancing (eg no blush, no contouring products, no primer, etc) - what's not in your kit needs to come from the "class kit" which is also often under stocked. Each class is allowed one box of tissues per class (and if there are 15-20 students that doesn't last long, especially when cleaning brushes).
Face charts are to be completed on printed A4 paper, not proper face chart paper which makes it very hard to use.

And the staff. What can I say? The ones that I was exposed to in my months there were unprofessional (for example - we got taught from a textbook from the UK. our teacher didn't understand that we should not be taught that the legislation referred to in the book didn't apply to us, because that was "what she was told to teach us).

The management team didn't show any compassion or apparent care for student welfare in all my observations. And student liaison and teachers were more intent on keeping the management team happy than caring for the students.

There are much better schools in the Melbourne CBD, with better facility, better syllabus and better teaching staff.

Expensive, awful service. Sloppy tint, color all over my face. Two minute trim. Rude staff.

Approximate cost: $110

It was my first time walking into Melbourne College of Hair & beauty. What a great experience I had. The ladies at the front desk greeted me with happy smiles, they could see that I was a tradie & let me know that the student may take up to 30 min to do my hair which I figured because they are students.
The students came up to me & greeted me then they asked me to follow them to the work station. I got such a great hair cut & all for $5.
The trainers advise the students & help them when needed. I will definitely return & happily recommend the school to others. Thanks once again.

Approximate cost: $5

I go here to get regular pedicures and facials. They are just as good as going to any beautician. Very clean, relaxing and everything is checked by the teacher.

Approximate cost: $18 - 40

Had a great eyelash tint. The facial was very disappointing-there was nothing relaxing about it. The student was more focused on getting the product on and off my face, rather than using nice, slow relaxing strokes.
I was refused massage due to being under 12 weeks pregnant, and told this could 'damage my growing baby'. Ridiculous.
The icing on the cake was being asked by the supervisor IN FRONT OF the therapist what I thought of my treatment. They should have feedback forms or ask this privately as I was certainly not happy but wanted to provide the feedback in a constructive fashion.

Pampering for my sister and myself included massage, pedicure, manicure, hair cut and make up; worth every inexpensive cent. Ensure you make appointments; I visit whenever I am in Melbourne.

If you are in the city and feel like pampering yourself, try this College. You can have a range of beauty treatments at affordable prices because the treatments are carried out by students who are supervised.
