I was super dissatisfied with my meal.
I paid $35 for a pasta dish that was the size of a a kids meal!
I work nights and I don't eat all day, until I wake up. I totally feel ripped off the only reason they get 2 stars because the beer was cheap and the bar was spotless. I went to hungry jacks across the street afterwards! What a shame!

The food at the Austral never disappoints. The Austral is predominately known for it's steak, but I can vouch for the other options as I'm not a steak eater! All meals are a very generous size & you can choose whether you want chips or a baked potato & vegetables or salad. They have kids meals but have recently gotten rid of their kids rooms, bit of a downside. The restaurant side can be a little expensive for some, the bar has a cheaper lunch time menu (mostly burgers & sandwiches, around the $12 - $16 mark) & you can take your children on that side as well. Overall always a good meal with friendly staff.

If you want a steak this the place to go. I always look forward to coming here to get my steak fix. The atmosphere is always great and the staff are pretty good.

The austral rocks I love going there and getting a steak.they cost a fair bit but they're really good.i took my mrs there for our anniversary and she loved the food and the waitress was really attentive to us and spoiled us for the night.i play pool there and also use the TAB and keno to put bets on.its a good night out before going up to the clubs too or on Sundays with the boys.

Located on the Main Street in Mackay,the Austral is one of mackays most popular eating and drinking bars.they are famous for their amazing steaks.the meals are a little exxy,but the quality is amazing,so worth the extra money.the bar has a pool table,TAB,keno,horses etc,a good place to meet your mates and go from there.

One of the best for a good cut of steak, succulently cooked to your liking served with salad and chips or baked potatoes. Highly recommend the teriyaki steak - you will not be disappointed!
