I was leisurely walking through the Belair Railway Station precinct on my way home from the Belair National Park during last year when I was assaulted by a Transport Department volunteer station maintenance worker. I immediately reported the incident to both SAPOL as well as DIT however this obviously fell on deaf ears since the aggressor still works there. A significant concern indeed regarding the safety of station patrons given this secluded precinct !
We decided to use our local train for our trip to the Festival Centre. The train was on time and was a great way to get to the theatre which was only a five minute walk away. Coming home was a wait but it was very convenient. Would do it this way again.
As seniors we travel free during 9am to 3pm. While the car was being repaired we walked to Woodlands Park railway station and caught an electric train to Seaford. The station was dirty and unkempt and smelly. A good clean is long overdue. However the new train was great and on time. Noticed that the newer stations along the way were clean and well maintained with toilets available. What a good idea. Altogether a good day out in Seaford and then Noarlunga Centre. However, Adelaide Metro please clean up the older stations.

Came home tonight on the Belair train. Very surprised to find a train leaving the Adelaide railway station at 5.45 pm. The timetable showed that a train left at 5.30pm and 6.01pm. As I missed the 5.30pm it was nice to have the unscheduled option. However it was all a little strange. It would be nice to have correct timetables on the website
Public transport is so expensive here, you would think they could at least have accurate timetables.
Hi Happyshopping, we too take issue with any public transport that fails to run according to schedule. Given that so many people rely on public transportation, greater importance (and stricter adherence) to running on schedule (according to publicized timetables) should be implemented. (We live in an area that has minimal access to public transport and cannot tell you how many times we have given a lift to people who were waiting for â??the last busâ?? that never came.) When it comes to reliable public transportation, Australia is lagging behind much of the world, which does little to encourage usage. It is very a disappointing state of affairs! Very disappointed to note the new payment system on trams here in Adelaide. I took two 7minute trips on Tuesday at the ticket cost $9.40! The machine would only take coins or EFTPOS/credit cards....what happened to notes? What do tourists do? Frustrating.
Hi Antheam2, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, the new transportation system in Victoria is not running any better and is fraught with issues. Such incompetence makes one wonder whether this lacking service is done intentionally to make large sums of money by fining commuters who have been unable to secure a ticket (due to the various issues with their machinery.)
