I am restoring a 1973 Kawasaki Z1 – 900 vintage motorcycle, and am Iooking for a company to correct the 4 X M6 threads in the head for the 4 cam caps. Each of the threads has previously been helicoiled and some of the helicoils have been stripped out. My enquiry is whether it is possible to remove the bad helicoils, alloy weld the holes and then machine and tap the holes (including 2 locating dowel holes in each cam cap). As the head and cam caps were line bored during manufacture of the head, the correct alignment between the cams in the head/cam caps would of course have to be ensured. A ballpark quote would be appreciated.
