This review is for Tonic Juice Bar & Cafe, Albany WA

The price for a juice seems to expensive. Really, for example, a large straight orange juice would be made of some 2-5 oranges. If buying in bulk the price of these would be a mere few dollars, they're then put in the juicer and sold for over twice the raw ingredients price. I may be wrong though? As I don't work in a juice bar. Their other menu products seem standard run-of-the-mill overpriced health products. I'm not sure how they'll keep making money and stay in business, there just isn't the particular scope of consumers who share the desire for these new wave health recipes that break the bank. However, the juice was nice, service was friendly and helpful, coffee smelt good.

Great staff, service is helpful and friendly. The prices are just average for quick Chinese food. It costs less to takeaway in the evening, bear in mind, but inside it is a nice setting.

This review is for Mcdonalds, Albany WA

Food quality is not something I judge from McDonalds, as the exact menu is uniform throughout WA. Since the price I paid was lower than I expected, quality is five stars for the price I paid. Nothing more, as I'm going to follow the sheep and denounce the nutrition of this place. Anyway, the service was efficient as ever. I paid $5 for a meal including a drink. I don't really enjoy McDonalds softdrinks because they don't taste like the real thing (syrup?) but for $1 I'm not complaining.

This review is for Henk's Cafe, Australind WA

I've been going to Henk's for months now and really enjoy the atmosphere and the staff. Generally I just order a drink because most of the cakes and slices are expensive. Sorry, 3 stars! I appreciate that they're all homemade (none of those oversized rubber factory-made muffins here!) but the portion size to price ratio on a number of occasions has not impressed me. Some however, like the marshmallow slice, are well-priced to me. The iced coffee price is also in the top five highest I've seen. The breakfast menu is interesting and unique (e.g. Mexican beans and chorizo). This was very tasty as well as bacon and eggs. I find that those in particular are worth the price. Friendly approachable staff!

Five stars! And even the staff agreed, which was nice. I commended the cashier/waiter on the quality of the food and the cheap prices. They were agreeable enough to thank me and concurred! Excellent service and tasty, unique meals like the rolls, which have different fillings. I had the roll with beef and gravy, complete with chips. The coffee and scone were delicious. Scones were freshly made, but reheated in a microwave. The tables etc are semi-enclosed in the Australind Shopping Centre, a rather dark poorly-lit shopping centre, but great cafe.

Yay for five star reviews for Bucks Diner! I agree with all the other reviews, especially on the affordability of their filling meals. When I first went there I was astonished at the range of menu options and the low prices for combos. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, great family atmosphere and very relaxed. It's very central too.

This review is for Red Rooster, Albany WA

I went to Red Rooster in the early evening. There was no other customers in the store apart from me, when I ordered. My meal including chips and drink was a special they had at the time. The food was nice and affordable for $9.95, compared to standard menu prices for combos. Excellent service when I was ordering. The cashier was apologetic to say they had run out of some drinks which I was planning on choosing.

A few customers that wanted to order roast chicken were declined because the store had run out, but I heard the cashier and manager/supervisor explaining the situation and saying there will be chickens ready in 20 minutes. One customer seemed annoyed and walked out without a word, the other customers seemed to take it well and either said they'd wait or go somewhere else.

This review is for Lockeez Lunch Bar, Centennial Park WA

Lockeez Lunch Bar has a nice range of rolls and savoury snacks. What really attracted me was the fresh roast pork, wow! I bought this (Roast Pork Roll with Gravy and Apple Sauce) with chips and a drink. I dined in to eat. The tables/seating are common and basic, expected in a casual diner/lunch bar. I was served by a very approachable lady who told me about the roll when I asked (they also make custom made rolls from different ingredients, kind of like Subway, but better and way healthier). I ordered right before a lunch rush because not long after there were at least ten customers lining up, and they seemed to have been served efficently because there was little waiting. It's good that the staff and customers have a rapport; many of them looked like regulars and were able to chat while they ordered/waited. Apart from this, my meal was great of course. Although I give 4 stars for value, because my drink from the fridge (300ml iced coffee milk) was definitely pricy and too marked up for its own good... Not sure if the overboard price applied to the other soft drinks.

This review is for Dylans On The Terrace, Albany WA

verified email - 06 May 2012

Dylans Cafe looks small from the outside but is quite extended inside, with several booths in the back and a quaint wooden bench beside the front counter, for takeaway customers. I bought a large mocha (4.50) and a Dylans Burger (13.60). All the burgers come with chips, which is great and very affordable I think for the cafe and its settings. My friends meals and drink cost them less than $20 as well. This was for lunch; for dinner I think the menu meals are larger so a bit more expensive. I'm new to Albany and it was my first time to Dylans, its supposed to be a cafe with a family atmosphere, and there were families and groups inside. Their service was friendly and modern. The waiter records your order and you pay after you have finished, like a restaurant. We dined in and were offered a glass of water when we sat down. The main counter and kitchen etc takes up about half the room inside the cafe and because I sat on a table rather than in a booth, it did seem a bit cramped (not to contradict my first statement about it being bigger than it looks from the outside). Overall I really enjoyed eating at Dylans, it is a farsight healthier and more unique than Dome Cafes which I tended to frequent in Perth. Love, Paul.
