This review is for Hog's Breath Cafe, Carindale QLD

My husband and I have always been loyal fans of "Hoggers". We both have frequent diner cards and have probably dined at their locations throughout Australia over 50 times over many years.

Since moving to QLD we haven't visited any of the local Hogs Breath's so we decided to give the one at Carindale a try (Located inside the Westfield Shopping Centre).

To begin with finding the right spot to park was a nightmare, we drove around the carpark entering and exiting more times than I care to admit to before we "stalked" the car in front and finally found our way to the right spot to access Hogs Breath.

It was busy, a 20 minute wait at the bar which is expected for a Friday night.

Hogs Breath are famous for their slow cooked prime rib steaks, they pride themselves on these. So you can imagine our surprise that when we went to order at 7:30 we were told they had run out of them! This baffled me, how can a restaurant on a Friday night run out of their signature prime rib steaks so early in the night? The waiter explained that we should have phoned ahead to "reserve" a prime rib steak to ensure we had them when we arrived. Never, ever in the many times we have eaten at this chain have we been told they have run out of prime rib steaks, yet alone be informed that we should have phoned ahead to reserve one.

We were offered the fillet steak instead, the waiter advised that while they wouldn't be as tender as their slow cooked prime rib that they would still be enjoyable. We agreed and went ahead and ordered. I ordered a Medium cooked Avocado Fillet with a side serve of mash and curly fries. My husband ordered a well done Blackened Fillet with the same side serves.

Our meals arrived in decent time, not a long wait. But. My steak was rare. To the point that the middle was purple in some places. My steak was flavorless and was so tough that my jaw hurt after eating it and the knife was straining to cut a decent piece. The mash potato was tasteless with this massive blob of "garlic" butter on top. There was no garlic to taste whatsoever. Their curly fries had a plastic frozen bag taste to them and were soggy on the plate.

My husbands steak was cooked to his liking, well done but was surrounded by a thick border of fat. When this was removed he was left with the smallest piece of steak, it was smaller than the palm of my hand.

When our bill arrived we had been charged the "Prime Rib" amount, so each of our mains was $36.00 with the sides we had chosen. We paid the same amount for a lesser quality steak, one of which was mostly fat the other was like a leather boot.

Very disappointing, we will not be dining here again.

I have only given 3 stars for service because while the waiter was friendly enough they should inform diners sooner that their prime rib steaks have run out. The way he spoke would indicate that this isn't a one off event at this location either.

Approximate cost: $36.00

I went here for a nice lunch with my 16 month old daughter and was so disappointed.

The service was average. I waited a few minutes to be served and the lady who ended up serving me was quite abrupt. I asked if they had high chairs and she pointed over around the corner and said "yep, over there". All 4 staff members then watched while I was carrying my daughter and going to get the highchair, then watched me struggle to open the door to go outside to sit down. At no point was I offered any assistance. I am not a battler, but it would have been nice to have been asked if I needed some help.

I ordered a strawberry milkshake which was "room temperature" so not sure what happened to the milk. I ordered my daughter the kids spaghetti bolognese and was told there was none left despite it only being 12:30 in the afternoon. I re-ordered her the kids chicken nuggets and chips. The nuggets were overcooked (clearly from frozen) and the chips were loaded up with so much salt I had to brish them down before serving them to her. My baked potato was "yellow" from being over-cooked and had no taste whatsoever. It wasn't cheap either, so for the price I was expecting much better quality food.

The cafe is in a prime location so I am amazed they don't try harder with their food quality.

Will not be going back here.

I have been to this hotel for dinner 3 times now. I always like to give places the opportunity to improve in the event that I have gone on an off night. This place is absolutely shocking! The food here is terrible, flavorless, pricey and bland! The last time we went my son ordered the Caeser Salad. After being informed the salad did not come with anchovies we proceeded to order it. When the salad came out it was full of anchovy skins! I had ordered the Pork Belly. It was all fat. Had no flavor, was almost raw and was so disgusting to even look at I had to hide it under the veggies. When I raised these issues with the waitress she was very rude and said "what would you like me to do about it?"! I asked to speak to the Manager. The Manager, an extremely young lady came and had a look at our meals and said in a flat tone "Pork Belly always has some fat on it". I told her that usually when its fatty the chef would crisp it up. She just looked at me with the blankest expression and said she would let the chef know. I told her that I wouldn't be coming back and she said "Maybe you will come back again next year". No discounts offered despite the fact that we didn't touch our meals and the bill was over $75.00! I would not visit this place again. I would strongly advise against it for anyone else who is looking for a decent meal in the Wynumm area.

I have visited this cafe 3 times now. Each time I have had a sub-standard experience. The food here is overpriced and very bland. The cheesy garlic bread tastes strange and nothing like garlic bread at all! I have sat both inside and out, when I sat inside I noticed there was an awful lot of flies in the corner where I was sitting and it ruined my lunch. For the price of the food here I would expect far better quality, especially for a cafe in such a great location. When you sit outside you get a great view of the Boat Harbor but in my opinion its not worth the cost. Will not be revisiting.

Best Thai in the Manly area. Food is always fresh and has consistent quality in taste regardless of the night of the week. Their Green Curry Chicken is amazing! Highly recommend!

This is the best Nandos I have ever had! People actually travel from afar to go to this Nandos. The chicken is so juicy, they put lots of sauce on and the service is always warm and welcoming. Compared to other Nando locations this one is a winner. They always have a line, so you know its going to be good!

Incredibly helpful staff. They helped diagnose my skin and suggested products that would suit my needs. They didn't try and sell me every product in the shop which I have had happen many times. They even suggested a way that I could save some money. Their prices are slightly discounted as they want people to be able to afford good quality skin care. I can't wait to go back and have a facial here. Very relaxing small boutique. Located in Camp Hill in a block of cafe's.

I went here to get my eyelashes tinted and was very impressed with the service. It was a peak period when I arrived so they were running a little bit behind, however they made sure I was comfortable and checked on me every few minutes until they were ready for me. They did a great job on my lashes, I didn't get any in my eyes and there was no after irritation. Best of all they didn't try to sell me anything while I was there, so I felt that I was getting the attention I wanted and they didn't have a hidden agenda to get more money from me. The girls were all very friendly and the salon was immaculate. Cannot fault! Wonderful!

This is always busy! If I can't get in to see my other Dr, this is where I go. I don't find the Dr's give you as much personal attention though. They seem to just want to diagnose you as fast as possible and get you out the door. I went there for a serious lack of sleep concern and they just kept throwing stronger sleeping pills at me rather than suggesting a referral to a sleep specialist. I only go there now as an absolute last resort. Be prepared for a wait if you get there during peak times (early mornings, lunch and afternoons).

This is the only place where I was always happy with my acrylics. They would listen to what I wanted and ensure the length and thickness of my nails were perfect. They do very good quality french tips and are very friendly.
