This bottle shop has a great variety including a range of low-preservative and organic wines from $10/bottle.
Their specials are good and change regularly.
The service is great, especially the advice from staff on types of wine, of which there's a good variety.
This pharmacy has an evolving product range. It's great to see new lines available in store. There are not many cosmetics compared to some pharmacies, but a good range of first aid, gifts, toiletry items and supplements. As well as all the other bits and pieces one would expect to find in a pharmacy.
They appear to be engaging with local community more lately, assisting new mums with a social outlet and information.
The service here is always excellent - prompt attention and fantastic advice from qualified and experienced staff.
I took a group of kids to pick their own strawberries. This is generally available from sometime in September until sometime in November, depending on the season.
The kids had a ball and picked lots of strawberries. I think they cost $10/kg and they were big and ripe and juicy. The tastiest sun-ripened strawberries we'd had in a long time - not like those watery things in the supermarket!
Staff were polite, despite their being a rush at the time. Oh, and the ice-cream is YUMMY!
This cafe offers local coffee and other products, which is important to a lot of consumers (like us). The coffee is good, the food is average. Service varies, depending on who is serving. The cafe has a licence, free wifi and is in a great location at the Malanda Falls.

These butchers know their product and meat is always fresh. A lot of it is grown locally, which seems important to the owners and staff. There are some good specials which change regularly. Their products are also available in the supermarket across the road, which is handy for grabbing something when the butcher shop is shut! They also have fresh fish and poultry, organic items, eggs, sauces - a really complimentary variety. We are blessed to have such a fantastic local butcher shop!
Friday was Farmers Market day and there were some good specials on various produce. The service was excellent. The salads in their deli are always fresh - we tried 2 on Friday. Produce was affordable, fresh, a lot of it was local which is important to us.
Approximate cost: $50.00
Our experience was as one would expect of McDonalds - reasonable service, fast. Staff talked amongst themselves loudly, which was a bit annoying. A customer was yelling at them about not cleaning the trays properly. One toilet seat was missing and the toilets were only reasonably clean. Tables and playground and floor were all clean and bins weren't overflowing. There were newspapers and magazines to read and plenty of straws, napkins etc.
Approximate cost: $15
I shopped at Bunnings in Atherton twice last week and the service was excellent. They were in their first week of operation as Bunnings and there was a lot going on, but the service was efficient and friendly. I look forward to seeing how the store grows as they fully transition into a Bunnings Warehouse. A great opportunity for a rural town!
Approximate cost: $100.00
The Closet Hippy, formerly The Herbal Gypsy, offers a retail experience as well as a cafe and meeting place. They sell unusual gift items - locally made, fair trade and eco choices. Also clothing, spices, decor - a wide array of products. There are fabulous herbal teas and coffee on offer, with comfortable seating for meeting with friends or enjoying some quiet time alone.
A unique cafe experience in a creative and colourful hub of a gorgeous little town! This coffee lounge supports local produce - tea, coffee, milk and more - all locally grown and good. Lyn makes and iced coffee to remember - yum! Puzzles, books, free wi-fi, gifts, classes and groups meeting... This is more than a place just to grab a cuppa, you'll want to hang around...
