I have had several really good experiences with these people but this last time I was left at the airport for two hours while we waited for other passengers (their flights NOT delayed). I wouldn't mind waiting but I only found out I had to wait after I called their office from the airport. I was told by the voice on the phone to 'just wait there'. For two hours? What if I had connections? Was travelling with the elderly or young kids? Not good enough not to keep clients informed, especially as I made the booking weeks in advance.
Having said that, the drivers are all great - courteous, helpful and safe.
If you were to use this service (not cheap!) make sure you know when you'll be met so that you can make plans.
Approximate cost: $70
Usual KFC fare and the service has improved over the years - nothing special. They frequently run out of chicken (if you can believe that!) and the driveway service is ordinary on a good day.
Inside the store looks grotty and they only recently got EFTPOS.
I have been using Majestic Orchid s for a very long time. Always excellent flowers and the people on the phone are great.
My only criticism is that the website is a little clunky. Other than that, everything is fantastic.
I've been going here for years, even when they were located at the Millner shops. Great hair work...they LISTEN! Now has basic beauty work, too. (waxing, tinting, etc)
Karen (main hairdresser) gives great advice.
General feeling in the shop of being welcomed. New facilities are lovely and I'm sure most would enjoy the massage chairs.
I've had a few experiences with these guys - all good. The voice on the end of the phone is helpful, and the blokes come when they say they will. And we know how rare that is. The last bloke who visited fixed all that needed (lights not working, etc) and was quick and efficient. He even had the spare bulbs in his van so I didn't need to source them elsewhere. He gave me some good advice about the electrics (fans) in my pre-cyclone house. He took away my fluorescents for correct disposal.
I haven't got the bill yet, which is a bit annoying. Last time the bill took over two months to arrive.
I had to have a painting on paper framed and Louise (the owner/operator) couldn't have been more helpful. She advised on colour and form and the work was done quickly and professionally.
We are thrilled with the result.
Approximate cost: $250
After waiting 10 minutes to be greeted and seated, we eventually seated ourselves. We then waited and found our own menus. The place was not busy and at least two waitstaff were hanging around. After bringing us some water, we were again left alone waiting to place our order. I sought out who appeared to be the manager and told him we were waiting to place our order. He sent a waiter to us. We then again waited for over 30 minutes for our meals (fish/pasta). During our very ordinary meal we were not approached at all. At the end of the meal, I spoke again to the manager about the lack of service we had experienced and he said that they had been short-staffed. Despite this, there were unoccupied waitstaff evident during our visit.
Approximate cost: $20
These folks do my monthly garden service: lawn, fronds, etc and take it all away. Really good workers: reliable and thorough. They communicate very well with me and show up when they say which is an odd thing in Darwin.
Approximate cost: $80
This is a regular surf shop. Because they stock brand names the prices are pretty high but they do have regular sales. Service is ok..not too pushy but the younger staff members tend to wait until they're asked before they assist.
A good range of gear: clothes, bags, shoes, sunglasses, etc
This bakery/cake shop is in the vein of ones you remember and stocks all the old favourites: lamingtons, vanilla slices, a full range of bread. But the best part about this shop are the pies. The best pies you have evr eaten. Great range, hot and reasonably priced. All the stuff, including bread, is made all day on the premises and the staff are up for a chat if they're not busy.
Everything you'd expect from a country bakery.
