This review is for Frescos Fruit Market, The Gap QLD

Situated in a busy little shopping centre, Frescos is pretty busy itself! Even so, the staff are friendly and chatty. The quality of the produce is excellent and everything looks inviting.

They're pretty strict on the EFTPOS $10 minimum rule but that's ok, it's not hard to spend $10 in there!

It's great to see a thriving fruit and veg shop in a bustling shopping centre and clearly the locals support it well. This store is not in my local area but I was there for another reason. A great find, will go back again soon.

This review is for Prouds The Jewellers, Brisbane QLD

Went into Prouds in the Myer Centre to buy something specific after looking around for some months. Finally, with Christmas approaching, I decided to stop browsing and start buying. I went into another couple of jewellers in the Myer Centre but Prouds had what I was looking for at a cheaper price than the others. The service was good, with the sales lady helpfully opening the case to show me the individual medallions.

I was disappointed that they don't offer gift wrapping but I'd saved over $40 on the item I wanted so that was fine by me.

Pleased with my purchase and would shop there again.

Dropped in for dessert here and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the gelati. The presentation is gorgeous which makes it very difficult to choose a flavour. You're allowed to taste test just two flavours so choose wisely!!

We each had a cup with two scoops for $5 which is quite reasonable actually. The flavour has a depth that is missing at places like Cold Rock. Evidently, the Italian owner uses recipes from Italy and takes great pride in his products.

You can sit inside or outside on the footpath at little tables.

Parking was easy being a week night and we look forward to returning, maybe next week!

This review is for Smiggle, Brisbane QLD

Did some Christmas shopping at Smiggle for my niece over the weekend. There is a lot of variety on offer and I'd actually never ventured into a Smiggle store before. I was pleasantly surprised at the different items on offer. It all seems to be pretty good quality and in plenty of different, enticing colour options.

I did find the pricing a bit over the top. But, being Christmas, I felt justified in splurging a little. I bought a hard pencil case, some scented pencils and a large eraser, all of which will delight my 8yr old niece who is keen to show off her name brand stationery at school next year!

The girl who served me at the counter was lovely, smiley and warm. I left feeling happy with my purchases and my experience there.

I love swimming here as the premises are clean, safe and well maintained. Being an indoor pool, there's no sunscreen residue clinging to the water line which makes for unhygienic swimming at other nearby public pools.

There are lockers, showers and a shop selling goggles, swimsuits, bathing caps and a few snacks and drinks.

Parking is under the building and is free. Then you simply take the elevator up one floor.

The pool is heated year round and is very convenient and comfortable.

There are so many fascinating things in there that you'll be surprised what you can buy. Today, I was looking for swimming goggles and flippers and found just what I needed.

The staff are all very helpful and pleasant. Parking is right outside the door and you can freely wander around the warehouse-style store to find what you need, and also what you didn't know you needed.

Prices are better than in the sports stores.

Highly recommended for summer recreational items but go to the website to see what else you can get.

This review is for The Pasta Company, Kelvin Grove QLD

What a find! My sister said she'd heard of this place and wanted to drop in for coffee. We walked in and decided to stay for lunch. For just $5.90 you can get a serving of fresh spinach and ricotta ravioli with napoletana sauce or for similar pricing, a serving of lasagne, canneloni or various other delights. You can also buy a large range of home made fresh pastas and sauces, plus gourmet biscuits, pannetone, gelati, preserves, cannolis and much more. There's a drinks fridge with some unusual - and tasty - options and also, fresh coffee to order. All served with a smile and a chat.

Parking is almost non-existent but if you park across the road under Aldi, problem solved.

The air conditioning was lovely and cool and the premises are clean, interesting to look around and very welcoming.

Great place to stop by for a quick lunch and to pick up some Italian treats.

This review is for Leonard's Chicken, Mitchelton QLD

The best thing about Lenard's Chicken is the freshness. The other great thing is that if you don't know what to cook for dinner, just go to Lenard's and you'll be spoilt for choice. It makes meal planning so easy when you can purchase the protein component ready-to-cook and then add vegies to suit.

The staff here are always helpful and can provide advice on the best way to get the best results from the products. The displays are very tempting so it's no wonder I spend more than I intended to each time!

I don't usually shop for groceries at Brookside but when I'm there, a visit to Lenard's is always on the agenda on my way out.

This review is for Meixners Meats, Ashgrove QLD

verified email - 15 Nov 2012

Please note that this shop is at The Gap, not Ashgrove but womo doesn't seem to have The Gap in Qld listed as a suburb yet.

Meixners Meats sells excellent quality grass fed meats and also nitrite free bacon, chorizo and ham. For those looking for healthier alternatives with their meat, it's a great little shop to frequent.

They also have the usual fare such as crumbed schnitzels, sausages, marinated chicken and offal.

The service is really friendly, both on the phone and in store. Situated right outside of Coles, it should be your must-visit on the way out if you can resist the cheap (and sometimes nasty) offerings in the supermarket.

This review is for Guzman Y Gomez, Fortitude Valley QLD

verified email - 12 Nov 2012

Our first time at Guzman Y Gomez and we were happy with the food but not overwhelmed by how amazing it was. For starters, the 'frozen' margarita machine wasn't ready so I had a liquid margarita. The guy was nice about it but I really didn't enjoy it.

The burritos were good, especially the soft flour tortillas which smelled and tasted freshly made. I enjoyed the corn chips that came with the guacamole and my friends had tacos which they liked too.

Sitting out in the open is good on one hand but on the other, the flies can be pesky.

We liked the condiment stations which were clean, well maintained and allowed customers to have as much of the sauces of jalapenos that they wanted.

Would go back but not for a while. Mexican food has that way of making you feel so full that you can't contemplate eating it again. Mind you, my brother-in-law who's from Texas said it was the best Mexican he'd had since being in Australia.
