We were fortunate enough to have a lovely young girl from Hungary named Noemi K. I can’t recommend her highly enough as she is such a beautiful quiet and caring young girl who loved our little Bishon Frise (Millie), as much as we do. We came back to a beautiful clean house and one very happy dog. I’m think Millie is missing having Noemi around already but you never know if she’s available next time we go away and she’s still around she will certainly be coming back here.

Freya and Nathan are wonderful. They took great care of our Pet Bailey a Bullarab dog our home was returned cleaned and organised. Gardens were spotless. Well mannered and good communicators. This was my first booking with Happy House Sitters and it was a very pleasing experience. It was Leanne's first time too. I think she had a good time with Wally and Wally was happy and settled upon my return. I was thinking he might fret while I was away but clearly not! Leanne played ball with him and kept him well cared for. It worked out well for her as well, as family lived nearby so she could visit. The house was wonderfully tidy and clean when I returned. Very very happy with the experience. Thank you Leanne. I am looking forward to my next booking.

We were really happy to leave our beautiful cats with Terry and Jean from Happy House Sitters. No fuss at all and came home to the house left in the same way as I had left it. Absolutely recommend them without hesitation. What a fantastic ways to have your animals and home taken care of while you’re away. A brilliant service that I will definitely utilise again.

Extremely easy to contact potential sitters. Interviewed 3 people all of whom were highly suitable. However Carwyn stood out and he was brilliant. Our dog loved him, he too very good care of our home, plants and pets. Couldn't be happier.

I can recommend Erika and Dante as house and dog sitters. They did a fabulous job over 13 days looking after my two dogs. I came to a very clean house. They even have a site on Instagram where I could see my boys having fun and going for walks.

Had a lady Rosalee stay in our home for 10 days to take care of my 2 cats. She was exceptional. Came home to gardens watered , house spotless and 2 happy cats. Would totally recommend.

We were really happy with the site and the quick responses we received for our advertisement. I asked our sitter to leave a deposit and I would double it as a bonus on our return. I highly recommend this. Our sitter was good but I would r commend using a more mature person if away for a whole month like us. They will have more experience in maintenance, privacy and cleaning on departure. Dogs were really happy and healthy and that was our priority. Thanks Happy House sitters

The website enables easy result sorting as well as smooth communication with home owners and site administrators. I was a member of Happy House Sitters (HHS) for 12 months and was not able to secure a single house sit. Whilst I appreciate this is not guaranteed, I do find this surprising as I am a professional house sitter and have been able to secure many regular placements through other house sitting sites. After joining HHS as a member on 27th October 2016 I soon became unimpressed with the functionality of the website and the level of customer service received. My requests for a response using their online contact form went unanswered as did my efforts to call to their landline number. I could not even leave a message, at the time, as the mailbox was full. On 1st November 2016, I emailed HHS directly to cancel my account and request a refund. I was advised that this was the first they had heard of any issue and that under their T&Cs I would not be entitled to a refund. When I challenged the T&C’s I received no further response to my email. At this point I raised a dispute with PayPal to get my money back. Within hours I received a response from HHS stating: “This email is to advise you that your Happy House Sitters account has been suspended due to a Paypal dispute being lodged. It will be re-activated if Paypal finds in our favour or if you close the dispute.” I was surprised by this response as there was no mention of my account being suspended for this reason in their T&C’s. Again, I challenged this and received no response. Although PayPal initially decided the case in favour of HHS I was then able to provide further information and escalate the matter to a PayPal manager. On 9th November 2016 I was awarded compensation for the full refund amount of $65. On 12th October 2017 I wrote the following review for HHS and posted this on a few online review and community websites. “I am member of a number of house sitting sites and sadly Happy House Sitters is the worst of the bunch. Over the course of a year I haven't managed to secure a single house sit through this site and (name removed) is not a nice man to deal with at all. Thankfully Paypal have now refunded my fees for the poor customer service received and I have had a far more enjoyable experience through (name removed) and (name removed).” Within hours I received notifications stating my reviews had been reported by Happy House Sitters for removal as HHS believed they contained inaccurate details and/or personal information. I also received the following response from HHS on 12th October 2017. Hi (name removed) Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you feel your time with Happy House Sitters was not a success. However, I do feel it's important to be accurate. Firstly, you asked for a refund after using our service for 7 months. Naturally, as you had used over half your membership a refund was not possible. Secondly, PayPal did not refund you as you stated. They found in our favour. Please see the extract from the PayPal email below. The reason your account was suspended when you lodged the Paypal dispute, is because when you lodge a dispute the funds are taken from the merchant's account. Therefore you were no longer financial. "Dear Happy House Sitters, We're happy to let you know that the following case was decided in your favour. Any hold on this transaction has been removed. Transaction details Case ID: (financial details removed) Buyer's name: (name removed) I do hope this provides some clarity. We wish you all the best. Kind regards (name removed)" With regards to the personal information I have only stated the owners name, which he himself uses on another review site. As evidenced above, HHS were found to be in breach themselves for publishing my personal and financial information. HHS also claimed that I requested a refund after using their service for 7 months which was untrue. I received the following response after contacting them on 14th October 2017 to dispute this. “It appears I've confused you with another member with regard to the timing. I apologise and will amend the review response accordingly. Also, could you please forward the copy of the paypal refund. We don't have any evidence of this.” I have since provided evidence of the PayPal refund to HHS. On another note my account was also suspended/cancelled again by HHS on 12th October 2017 which I believe was in response to my negative review of their company. To date I have received no response to the following email, sent on 14th October 2017, which states. “Could you please also confirm why you closed my account before it was due to expire on 27 October 2017.” In my opinion, I believe the way HHS have handled my complaint and online reviews speaks volumes about the company’s integrity, professionalism and commitment to customer service. I have since proved all my claims to be true and have provided supporting evidence to the various review teams to have my reviews reinstated. To date I have received no further response from HHS to my emails dated 14th & 16th October 2017 asking why they closed my account early.

Hi folks my wife and i have been using the house sitters for a number of years ans have found iti an excellent service , with little or no trouble, until the last house sitters. we had no complaints about the way they looked after our house and animals., but we were a little disappointed when we found out that they had invited other people to stay at our home without our permission. we believe that should never happen without permission, our home is not a hotel, motel or a do drop inn,

After planning a six-week holiday overseas and then being let down by a family friend who had planned to house-sit my menagerie of animals, I contacted Ruth at Happy House Sitters and poured out my woes. Ruth was very helpful and explained how to set up my advert. Within 2 days I received a message from a lovely retired couple from Melbourne who were coming to Qld for the winter. They looked after my 2 dogs, 2 cats, 5 chooks and 2 guinea fowl with great care. I was thrilled with the way they looked after all the animals and they even cleaned my house thoroughly before my return. I have offered them a sit whenever they are passing by.

We have used your services 4 times now with sits in Queensland and Victoria. The first sit was for 6 weeks and was on a 5 acre allotment in QLD, the house had 3 bedrooms with all mod cons. Even though we were traveling in our caravan, the owner made the house open to us. The second sit was for 2 weeks and was a lovely 4 bedroom house in the suburbs of Melbourne. They had a swimming pool that we could use. The third was a smaller house in country VIC and again it had all mod cons. The last sit was for 3 weeks in country QLD the house was a small cottage style on several acres In these sits we have had the pleasure of looking after a verity of animals including dogs, cats, guinea fowls, ducks and chooks. Your website made each of these bookings very easy to apply for, and each of the home owners got back to us in a very timely manner. We have recommended your site to others who were equally happy with the sits they have arranged.

I decided to try this service so my dogs did not have the stress of going to a kennel and could be looked after in their own home and I have to admit I was very nervous and left specific instructions. A house sitter was booked from 19/12/15 till 30/1/16. Unfortunately by the 5/1/16 he had cancelled due to a family illness which couldn't be helped and it is understandable that he would want to be there to support his brother. It did end up leaving us overseas needing to find someone to mind our 3 dogs for the remainder of our vacation. This aside however, he was left with specific instructions that our dogs were not to be left outside when he went out because they bark. On Christmas day, he left them outside and some of the neighbours from the back street were wandering around our home looking for the source of barking dogs who had apparently been barking most of the day. They threatened to call the rangers. Fortunately, the neighbour across the road from us spoke to them and then contacted us to inform us of the situation. We had to phone and talk to the sitter from the USA. He was also asked not to let the dogs off lead at the park and I found out that he was doing this too. One of the dogs urinated in the bedroom (looks like 3 times) and it doesn't look like he made much attempt to clean up the mess as there are yellow stains up the curtain and on the new carpet. I did speak to him about this and he admitted it was one of the dogs who was spending time in the bedroom with him. Dogs were supposed to sleep in the laundry. Seems like he totally ignored any of our specific instructions. The only other things we asked were to collect the mail and water a couple of pot plants. It seems the mail was left in the box for a while as some of it was saturated by the reticulation. Overall not impressed and would be very hesitant using this service again. I think I will go back to using a kennel and relying on neighbours to keep an eye on the house.

I Joined Happy House Sitters this year but had so much difficulty finding house sitters . In June I wrote to so many and with greatest difficulty managed to find someone for two nights. In September I was travellng overseas and out of the the two house sitters who responded, one failed to failed to show up at my place and the other called in sick . In July Again I advertised for someone to look after my puppy while I am away in December and this lady came and saw my puppy and agreed to look after her . But when I contacted her again in November she kept sending messages saying that I didn't confirm . Why would I see her at my place and discuss and agree to her recommendations if I didn't want her to mind my puppy ? It is so frustrating and disappointing because these house sitters constantly let me down because of their lack of commitment. We should be able to rate these House sitters so others will know how unrealiable they are.

I am currently subscribed to three online House-Sitting websites, and can honestly say that compared to their competitors, "Happy House Sitters" service delivery is so bad that I would strongly recommend against using them. Unlike their competitors, HHS charge a hefty fee for every geographical zone you select. Thus subscribers are limited to only those house-sitting opportunities falling within one's particular zone. If you want to broaden your search by even a few additional kilometers, you are required to pay the full fee for access to the adjacent zone. However, adding to one's frustration is the fact that navigating their website is difficult, and their search engine does not work effectively, with the result that opportunities falling within one's zone are not always picked up. Over the past thirty days, I have received only two notifications from HHS, compared to an average of FIVE PER DAY from the other service providers. Worst still, they have not bothered to respond to my written complaint about their lack of service delivery, despite my warning that I would go public about my dissatisfaction unless matters improved. In my opinion, this service is definitely not worth the fee being charged, and should be avoided.

While looking for reliable house-sitters, I was lucky enough to find the Happy House-Sitters website run by Ruth and Malcolm based in Victoria. I am from Perth, but despite the distance I always got quality service from this Company. All the house-sitters who cared for our home and pets while we were on holiday were professional, caring and responsible. Our pets - two dogs and a cuckatoo were well cared for. Our garden and house were kept in clean and immaculate order. The third time we went away for a holiday and accessed Happy House-sitters, the young couple assigned to us were caught in a very inconvenient and awkward situation where we had to transfer to a new house as we were able to suddenly sell our old home and to vacate it asap. But the young couple just took this in stride, assured us that our initial arrangements with them were still in place, and they would help to facilitate the changeover. So we went off on our holiday unburdened by stress. We came back with our pets happy in their new home and with the place and garden looking well tended and cared for. I and my husband have recommended and will always recommend Happy House-Sitters to our friends and acquaintances intending to leave for a holiday.

We have used house sitters via Happy House Sitters for over 3 years and never had a problem. Their process of connecting people is sound and allows for reference checking. We recommend that you do the reference check and have an interview with the person/s. Remember the agency connect you its your responsibility to choose well. We would recommend HHS unconditionally.

I first joined HHS 4 years ago and my current membership has just expired. During March I was offered and accepted a 6 month house sit. This will be quite a change to be in the same house for such a long term after being in a different house/suburb every few weeks!! Be assured once this long term sit is completed I will be renewing my membership :)

My husband and I signed up for a NSW $89 4 month membership in order to try staying somewhere closer to work in the Sydney area while we were looking for a place to buy and then move in. I sent out around 20 requests and have had no luck. I have a feeling that people would prefer older couples or singles to stay in their homes who are available during the day, as opposed to a working couple in their early 30's - though was even able to work from home on occasion if need be. We also have plenty of pet experience plus references from AirBnB apartments we have stayed in while travelling, and were flexible with our dates. For us the membership has been a waste of money to date. A suggestion would be to charge customers once you are actually successful in obtaining at least one house sit, otherwise you feel a bit jipped.

We joined HHS last year and have only had the opportunity of one housesit so far, due to us having less availability than we'd expected. However it was a great experience and we continue to be on the lookout for anything we might be able to do especially being able to stay independently while visiting family when they don't have space for us to stay at the moment. We get a good night's sleep and feel like we are helping someone else have a good break away with peace of mind that their home, garden and pets are safe. The site is easy to use and we are regularly sent emails to alert us to places we have chosen to want to stay. Excellent and prompt contact to any queries we have had too from Malcolm, really helpful and personal service.

We have been members for most of the last five years and are extremely satisfied with this company. We have always found them to have the most house sits available compared to other house sitting sites. We have never experienced any problems with home owners at all, in fact most of our current house sits are now repeats. On a couple of occasions I have had to actually speak to Ruth and she has phoned me back the same day and has always been able to resolved my query on the spot. They are not just about taking our money and leaving us abandoned, they are active with updates to their site and are listing new housesits several times a day which is more than other house sitting sites do. They really do have the most house sits and are well worth investing in if you are serious about house sitting.

I joined HHS in 2013 as my husband is renovating our house and we plan to move to the peninsula. Its been wonderful to gain house sits near the place we would like to live, giving us the opportunity to explore these areas. All the home owners we have met have been wonderful people who love and care about their pets. We are able to enjoy their beautiful homes while spoiling their special fury friends with no great expense. I have found the site easy to use and find getting the new listings help me plan the next sit easily. Malcolm & Ruth have been quick to respond when I have asked questions so I would recommend this service to either people wanting a house sitter or some one who just wants a cheap way to stay around Australia.

After signing up as full members, we sealed our first house sit within just a couple of weeks and have had people approach us through our profile. I have only been using the Happy Housesitters website for a short time now and have already received confirmation of two housesitting positions. The website is simple and easy to use however very professional with position alerts updated daily. I feel secure in providing my personal information and details via the website to prospective home owners who would like their homes and 'fur families' cared for whilst they are on holidays as I know this information is safe and will not be passed on to a third party. What started out as a temporary measure is now a lifestyle choice. We have been registered with Happy Housesitters for the past 3 years & continue to enjoy the opportunity to live in beautiful homes (FOC!) in various locations in NSW for delightful home owners and get to know & love their fur kids. Many homeowners book us to return year after year. Malcolm & Ruth are 'real people'. They are accessible & respond to queries promptly & efficiently. But most importantly their site is alive & well, with new homeowners registering daily. The initial outlay pays for itself in no time - just do the math!!

I used Happy House Sitters myself prior to becoming a member. Now I am house sitting for others. There are always new houses/pets coming up for sitting. The site is easily accessed and used by both home owners and sitters. It's affordable for all and a good deal for the pets that get to remain in their own homes while their owners take a break.

We're fairly new in Australia and have been members for only 4 months. We're on our first house/cat sit now and have another one lined up. It's been great for us so far. We've met very nice people and we get to know the area really well as well as saving a lot of money! We don't have any experience of any other house sitting business but we can (and have!) recommend Happy House Sitters any day! There's one important feature that should be added to the website; a direct link to Google Maps so that you can straight away click on the area and see where it is, i.e when looking for a house/apartment on Gumtree.

We have been registered with Happy House Sitters for approximately four years and in that time have house sat in Western Australia, New South Wales and Qld while travelling Australia. Happy House Sitters has presented us with more opportunities to sit than anyone else comes close to, and quickly respond to our communications with them. Our house sits have been suburban and rural properties (our preference) with medium and large dogs. We've met some lovely homeowners and developed friendships, remaining in regular contact. Its a great way to really get a feel for their communities.

I have been using HHS for almost 2 years now and they provide excellent service with a wide variety of potential house-sits. The only criticism I have, and it is not really their fault, is that a number of people who advertise don't have the courtesy to reply to an application. One final thing - some people put their photos upside down on the website - a tad annoying.

Happy House sitters is a great service. I have belonged to other house sitting sites but this one is better with more choice and I love it is in Australia. I am missing having a dog but now enjoying travelling around looking after other homeowners pets. I have been to Mt Eliza on the long weekend when all other accommodation was booked out and looking forward to going to Albert Park just around the corner from "The Block" and my daughter in Melbourne. Love having my taste of the city while living in the country. Love walking dogs and keeping them happy while their owners enjoy time away. It works both ways for sitters and home owners.

Met wonderful people and pets, stayed in exciting places,explored and had adventures learning about local communities as we go.Your service response is fast and as a company you react quickly to whats out in the market. We wanted to travel around this amazing country and found Happy House Sitters. We accepted a house-sit minding 2 dogs, 2 cats, 6 chickens and 2 guinea fowl for six weeks in beautiful Bundaberg, QLD. What a wonderful experience! We are already booked for several more sits and are looking forward to our travelling over the next few years. The Happy House Sitters site is so easy to navigate. A great way to see this country!

I have been using Happy House Sitters regulary for over a year. I had no idea I could review them till today. I use their website to find new home owners a lot. Most of my year is booked for the area I choose to go to. I can sit from 1 day to a couple of years depending on who needs what and for how long. Home owners are lovely, I have become friends with each new family I meet. On website as a sitter, I fill out my profile with details including filling out a section allowing me to tick what pets I am happy to look after, if I have a working with police check, references (which are posted onto my profile somewhere for people to read) and more. I sometimes get around to detailing booked sits on the website in the profile section. Good thing is, a lot of my sits that I found on this website has given me more opportunities purely by word of mouth to their neighbours, friends and family. It is free for home owner to post an ad but for sitter there is a good fee. Not a problem though because the money spent in registering is covered 100 times over compared with renting or paying a mortgage. Lastly, Happy House Sitters have the most ads from home owners and from house sitters.

Hi Malcolm & Ruth, Just wanted to let you know that we were very impressed with the new site !!!! I think it is much better than the old layout and very easy to use, also a picture paints a thousand words- the video was clear and explained very well, just as it happens. Another thing I really liked is the simplicity of the site, as mature people, we dont like all the jargon that technology creates to make things more complicated. The pricing page is easy to understand. It was good to see what Ruth looked like, I would have liked to have seen you also Malcolm. I've also used two other house sitting agents and can say that Happy House Sitters is by far the best of the 3. They are not the cheapest but they are definately the best value for money!

I'm a housesitter and have been using Happy Housesitters for almost three years. It's a god send for my savings plan for my own home. I find it an easy, friendly and affordable way to acesss housesits and "match up" with houseowners. When you even out the fees that housesitters pay for access, it's really great value and I couldn't have survived the last three years without it. I've had repeat business from this site, and have gotten to know some owners and their pets very well.

We advertised for housesitters to look after our house and cat when we go to New Zealand later this year for three weeks. A couple who live nearby responded and after a few emails and phone calls they came around to meet. They seemed very nice and we agreed that they would look after the house when we went overseas. In the meantime we asked if they wanted to do a couple of weekend ‘sits' which they agreed to, one of them being only a couple of weekends ago. We received several text messages saying everything was ok, cat was happy. When we got home we wouldn't have know that they'd been here except for some very welcome left over pizza they left for us. Hoping this will be an ongoing mutual association. No cost to us and better than putting the cat into a cattery. Thanks.

Thanks for a great site - this was a first for us and we found it certainly easy enough once everything was set up it certainly did the job for us and enabled us to check out various areas which were new to us We did also register with a rival site - which cost quite a lot and was extremely disappointing - only a couple of sits offered and both in the wrong areas - happy house sitters was much closer to the mark Happily we are now just getting settled into our own home so appreciate if you could remove us from the web site now - thanks for your help and good luck for the future ! cheers viv

I was uncertain that paying more would achieve a better result. I was to be proven wrong, as I had registered with two other House Sitting sites, both of which were not a patch on Happy House Sitters. We have house sat a home in Brisbane in May this year, and have another one booked for September.

We have used this site on many occasions over the past few years. As an over protective Mum to one spoilt black lab cross mastiff "Kirra" we as a couple are very selective in who we feel we can in trust our dogs care to. Each time we have used this site we have not been disappointed by the person/couple we have selected. You can just tell who's right for the job just by speaking to them on the phone. Each time we have returned to a clean/tidy home but more importantly a happy/healthy dog. I highly recommend this site to others and believe it is such a better option than placing your pet into a kennel. Not only is your home safer while you are away but your pet is in the comfort of their own home.

Our first sit in Perth, and what a surprise!. It surpassed all expectations. Fantastic location on top of the hill in North Fremantle, view of Rottnest in the distance, casual stroll to the beach one way and the river the other, magnificent house, beautiful dog ... what more can I say? The Happy House Sit was 8 weeks of bliss. Thanks for the experience. I would not hesitate to recommend Happy House Sitters to anyone. Secured the sit within 10 days of signing up. My name is Christine and I have had many rewards from house sitting and not only that if saving money. I am an animal lover first which really has to be one of the main reasons for house sitting. I have met wonderful people who have opened their homes to me and even more, I felt their warmth and gratitude. I have used Happy Housesitters a few times to find a housesitter to care at for my home and dogs while I'm on holidays. Each time I have had a great response to my ad and been able to select a suitable applicant. My dogs and home have alsways been well cared for and I feel at ease while I'm away, knowing my dogs are in their own environment.

This is just such a wonderful way to have the piece of mind when going away and leaving the pets with someone who just loves animals. They love them, feed them, walk them, wash them (if appropriate), look after the house, and leave it clean and tidy and a bunch of flowers on the table. WOW!!!
