There isn't much choice on offer around for those unfortunate enough to work on St Kilda Road... There is the wonderful Cafe Vue, but otherwise cheap and nasty fast food, or cheap, nasty Japanese food and cheap and nasty pub food. Blue Moose offers good coffee, decent sized servings of food and pretty darn good food as well. Not to mention the friendly and always smiley staff. I have tried their vegie fritata with a choice of salads, I chose rice salad and green salad that day but the salad changes regularly. The fruit salads are also a good for breakfast in a hurry. The place is pretty spacious and looks very bright and open. I'm fast becoming a regular!

Awesome.
Extravagant.
Service was impeccable and timed to perfection.
The food - extraordinary.
A wonderful and memorable experience.
The wait staff do their job extremely well, but they do seem to have been instructed to not engage with the customers. I like talking, and I love talking to the staff because happy staff makes for a happy customers and it all forms part of the dining experience.

We did manage to squeeze some personality out of one of the waiters, who seemed to enjoy the little bit of informality that he could get away with.
I have dined at Vue de Monde and I will return again as soon as I find a rich husband lol

Exceptional service, the wait staff are some of the best in the game. They were charming, friendly, attentive and helpful and not the slightest bit of french snobbery to be seen anywhere. The night was extremely busy but we never had to wait long for things, we got our water and our menus and the staff were quick and prompt with everything we needed.

The menu is simple and elegant french food, and all courses were priced the same, so entrees are all $18, salads all $22, mains all $32 and desserts all $15. Makes things easier to calculate at the end. Only the specials are priced differently... the wagyu steak special was absolutely divine and only cost $50!

Only minor little details that could be improved, one of our steaks came out with the bloody jus run all through the mash potatoes, so that wasn't a great look, and perhaps should never have left the kitchen but it tasted great despite how it looked.

Also, in one of our fish mains, a fish bone was found! Oh no, Quelle horreur! I know for sure that that was definitely a big no no. But, for the quality of the food and the wonderful flavours, these were minor trivialities.

We even had a little encounter with the celebrity chef, who was just as funny and friendly as he appears on tv. I would gladly return for the food anytime. Great venue.

Beautiful location, and great to go for a walk and stop by for a quick drink however, meals are on the pricey end for casual-type dining. Fish & Chips for $24.50? For that price I expect it to be the super deluxe, orgasmic fish & chips but really you can get the same fish & chips in Williamstown for less than half that price.

The pizzas are ok, nothing to harp on about. The desserts on the other hand was wonderful. We ordered the tasting plate and thoroughly enjoyed every morsel of it.

The staff were attentive and accommodating, and very friendly and charming.

Overall, I think this place has a lovely vibe and is a great place to sit for a drink and catch up with friends but was let down by the pricey "ok-type" food.

I was very disappointed with my seafood paella. It had a strange sweet after tasted, almost as if the chef had accidentally put in sugar instead of salt. The seafood was of the frozen variety, it was not fresh and not good. The rice was soggy and gluggy. As it we could not get a table anywhere else in St Kilda due to the Christmas celebrations all around, I was surprised to find that this restaurant was rather quite empty. It should have been a sign to us. The menu sounded promising, a little bit of everything from vegetarians to meat lovers to seafood lovers and a good mix of asian and european influences, but in hind sight this was a big mistake. If you try to cater to everybody you end up being terrible at everything.

The price was reasonable, the serving sizes were good and the wait staff were friendly and attentive, if but slow (and we were the only table in there!) The food was just not good enough considering how high the quality of food, even at budget restaurants can be in Melbourne.

I left very disappointed.

Nice old pub with food and decent priced drinks. I haven't eaten here yet but they have reasonably priced specials so I definitely intend to go back and try them out. The pub has a nice vibe to it and friendly staff. The bluestone feel, and a nice little outdoor courtyard area as well as a somewhat claustrophobic "cells" area where people can dine. Plenty of historical value.

Stayed here one night on NYE. The hotel is very dated, but conveniently close to trams and has plenty of street parking as well as free parking for hotel guests. There is an outdoor swimming pool which we didn't try but looked clean, if small. The staff were all somewhat friendly, they were helpful with all our questions but did seem a little bit distant. The rooms were clean and were of a descent size, our twin room had 2 double beds and still had plenty of space. The bathroom was also a nice and spacious but all the decor and fittings probably needs an urgent update. It says something when instead of a feedback form in the room, you get a "tell us what's not working" form in the room.... lol perhaps I should have mentioned to them about the noisy air conditioner in our room, even though it wasn't turned on it still made a funny clicking noise....

Overall, the price was ok, it perhaps is not the cheapest hotel around for what you get, but location was ok if you don't like the hustle and bustle of the city.

As most places were closed on New Year's Day, we had very little choice for breakfast. It's no nonsense, basic breakky food (eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes etc) and although not brilliant by any means, it does the job just fine.

Service was brilliant, the staff were friendly but could be improved by speeding things up a bit. And despite already receiving our drinks (we ordered 1 coffee and 1 OJ) we were given 2 extra coffees, which were of course returned... poor waitress must have been so run off her feet to not have noticed that we had 4 drinks on our table.

Overall, it was cheap and it was basic and it wasn't terrible, so yes I may return one day.
