The Skinny Dog hotel is great throughout with a good bistro area as well as a great outdoor area. The menu has lots of good choices and reasonable prices. The drinks are also reasonable with a generally okay wine list. Food service was quick even though every table was full. Meal quality was great. Try the Saganaki. Service is okay - could use a couple of extra staff members when the tables are full. Takes group bookings as well.

The Harp of Erin Hotel have come a long way in the last 10 years. Now it's a great place for a good value and great tasting pub meal. Great value drinks with sports bar for catching up with friends and counter meals as well as a bistro area. Also has a pokies area for those inclined that way. Staff are always friendly and service is generally quick. The pub also supports a large number of community groups.

Three below has a great wine list and is in a great location looking at city square. In nice weather it's great to sit outside and watch the world go buy. Great bar snacks/meals however they are a little bit on the expensive side however they always come out quickly. Lovely booths inside if there are a few of you and service at the bar is generally quick.

The Joint is a pretty basic venue but has a great balcony for drinking in nice weather outside. Drinks are reasonable prices with some great specials on for happy hour. The Kitchen being open seems to be a hit and miss affair and the food quality tends to be lacking. Has pool tables unlike most inner city venues.

Randy Dragon is in a easy to get location in Flinders Lane between Elizabeth and Queens St. Lots of seating to have a drink with friends. Has some great happy hour specials but has a limited wine list. A bit dark but a good atmosphere. Not one of my favourite locations for a drink in Melbourne but generally easy to get a seat to take a load off unlike some bars nearby however can get really busy with Friday after-work drinks. Music is great and you can book areas for private parties.

Lustre Lounge is great for a post-work drink, pre-dinner or show drink or just to catch up with friends. The passionfruit martini is a must try. Great atmosphere and location close to Degraves St. On a Friday night can get really busy with the office crews having a post work drink.

I stopped in on Sunday for an impromptu lunch with friends. From the outside The Standard doesn't look like much but it has a great beer garden and even with a large amount of reservations we were still able to get a table. Parking is hard in the area due to time limits and permit zones so I would suggest getting public transport. It's in a street a block away from Brunswick street so it's very convenient. Menu provided a lot of variety as did the wine list. The wine list was larger and more well rounded than a lot of the hotels in Melbourne. Food was great (especially the dessert spring rolls) and service was great too. There were a large number of people eating but the food still came out of the kitchen very quickly we never thought we were waiting on food.

Menu was large with lots of great options. I ordered takeaway from Ginseng House Restaurant via menulog. Ordering was easy to do and I was able to pay with a credit card of my choice which is always great. Delivery occurred at the time expected (they send you a SMS to confirm the order has been received and the expected delivery time). Delivery man was friendly. Food was good, was as expected.

I love going to the Kew Nursery and Cafe for the cafe alone. I love strolling through the nursery before (and after) to see whats available. Menu at the cafe is wonderful with a lot of choice. Prices are reasonable and the service is good and friendly. I would recommend the breakfast especially and will continue to be a repeat customer.

I dropped in on a Friday night to Ichii Sushi to pick up some takeaway for dinner. I ordered salmon sashimi and some sushi rolls. Service was quick and prices were very reasonable but the Sashimi and Sushi rolls were below the normal standard of other places in Kew and the Melbourne CBD.
