1 review about Whitehall Guesthouse Sorrento

This is a traditional guesthouse so not all rooms have private ensuites. We did. The room was huge with high ceilings and lots of natural light, and the bathroom was a decent size. Room was a bit dusty (incl dead fly on the window ledge) but the bathroom was very clean. Room was serviced daily.

The house needs renovation but could be called 'shabby chic'. Bedding was comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price but was very basic toast and cereal kind of thing. The house has a huge dining room and outdoor area but this is only utilised for breakfast and even though there is a bar in the dining room is closed after 5pm.

I didn't sleep well because I could hear the other guests going in and out of the shared bathrooms in the hallways - closing the doors loudly instead of being considerate of others in the middle of the night. On the morning of check-out we discovered no hot water and couldn't shower. I had to notify the night manager of the problem - apparently no other guests had told them. As a result we had to change our plans for the morning and wait for the problem to be fixed.

The room cost $250 per night with a minimum 2 night stay because we stayed over the Cup Weekend.

Having said all of this, I would actually stay again because I love old architecture, there was a stunning first floor balcony running along the front of the building with great outdoor furniture to enjoy the evenings, a pool and peaceful BBQ area and the staff were really really nice.
