This tourist activity is great fun and is located behind the historical Mogo Village near Batemans Bay. It is off the highway in the forest and near the mogo zoo as well.

There is an 1800s gold town to explore. It is worth joining up with the tours as the guides are full of knowledge about how things were in the early Australian days. They demonstrate the big equipment used for extracting gold and have great stories about life on the goldfields and bushrangers etc.

Visiting this place is a bit of an eye opener for the kids as they realise the past was really not all that long ago. They don't think they could live without their mobiles and other gadgets!

Going through the mine tunnel and panning for gold by the waterwheel are our favorite family activities. Parents can sit by and let the young ones run around. There are picnic tables and lakes as well, so you can spend quite a few hours here.

I used to like going here when the children were young with other families because everyone enjoyed the freedom of the large property and found heaps to do. (That was back in the days when it was called Old Mogo Town.)

Last time I visited there was a brand new wooden maze on the property. I am not sure where the nearest maze is in the NSW south coast area, so this is a great addition.

I have visited here quite a few times over the years and it always seems there is something new going on. There is a big hall were I have been to bush dances, charity and music night and you can hire it for functions, weddings and groups. Love the huge fireplaces and atmosphere in this Tavern. Catering is great too with spit roasts and buffets that have an Australian homestyle appeal.

You can also stay on the property and I have done this a few times as well. Fabulous! You can see the stars and listen to the bush and the birds in a very unique setting. It is not like some gold town theme parks where you stay in the old buildings. The cabins they have are all new and comfortable tucked away at the back of the property with great facilities.
