I really enjoy having a few drinks at The Australian, this is another must-visit if you are going on a pub crawl around The Rocks. They have a very interesting pizza menu, unlike any other pizza place that I know of. Plenty of beers on tap and a fun, lively atmosphere. If you have not been here before, The Australian is worth a visit, you will feel all patriotic by checking it out :-)

Aussie Aussie Aussie!!! With Australia Day around the corner I thought I would review this great Sydney pub. Very Australian and the place to be on Australia Day without a doubt. It gets so busy here on Australia Day that they set up pretty much in the middle of the street to cater for all the people that rock up. Admittedly this place is great any time of year but the atmosphere on Australia Day is just something you have to see. Plenty of Aussie beers on tap as well as some brewed in country Picton on tap also. The pizzas are very creative with some even having crocadile and emu in the toppings. Now that's Australian!!!

This pub as great craft beers on tab but also some interesting food. In addtion to usual pub food they have some good Australia pizza's. Crocodile pizza is a little snappy. Sort of like a cross between chicken and fish. Great plave to spend a lazy afternoon or long lunch during the week. Can get busy so i recommend booking a table if you want to eat.

Approximate cost: $14

My wife and I used to go to this hotel often for the great beers, delicious pizzas, friendly prompt service and good overall value.
A couple of days ago I left feeling a liitle ripped off. The seafood pizza was great and decent value (around $25), the beer good, but the bottle of chardonnay my wife bought was awful and I could not believe the bill when I saw they charged $39 a bottle for such poor quality.
The service at the counter was O.K. but after about 20 mins I had to ask to get the table cleared so we could eat our meal (and there were 3 staff just chatting). But the glassy was over-zealous. On two occassions we had to go to the bar and ask for a replacement glass as they kept being taken when the level was low (not empty) and we still had wine in the bottle to pour another drink.
Summary: enjoy a beer and pizza, stay away from the wine and keep a hold of your glass until you are satisfied it is empty!
