10 reviews about Taxim Chinese Restaurant

Have been there before & thought it's been a couple of years - it might have changed. Alas no.
Dropped in there for lunch 'yum cha' - it was quite full & got a table no probs.
Bit of a wait for the first trolly to come around - in fact, disappointingly most of the food comes around on a tray which means the food is not really hot (& I like hot food & very cold drinks). There actually were two trolleys sort of going around - you had to put your hand up or jump up and down to get their attention though.
Food wise - got crispy vege tofu wraps - very oily, prawn dumplings - only warm not hot, chicken feet - warm and not really much flavour & I got some steamed tofu wraps in gravy, the waitress said they had meat & veggies but there was no meat. They were hot though.
So - four dishes + chinese tea, average service came to $35.20. Not really satisfied & I'm pretty sure that we won't be bake. Still looking for a good Yum Cha place up in the Hills. Best found so far is the Star Capital at Chatswood (see my other review).

Nothing outstanding. Fairly standard, leaning towards the disappointing side. (Especially the cheong fun and hargow...which were very sad on that day.) Attended for yumcha.

We enjoy going to Taxim when we chose to stay local for yum cha. They have a nice variety, and always have a few food carts circulating. The food is fresh and tasty. The service is quite good, they always offer my kids a lolly pop following our meal. The restaurant offers a nice atmosphere, you can sit either in or outdoors.

A group of six went there for yum cha and really enjoyed it. Food is very reasonably priced, and the service was good. The only downside was that we felt a little rushed. It is always busy so may be a good idea to book.

Good food and the staff are very nice. Yum cha is good, however service can be slow at times. Menu is very varied, and the Peking Duck is lovely. Prices are average. Although the restaurant is licensed, you can still take BYO wine which is great.

Always busy with a good yum cha selection. The staff are very attentive and happy to find a particular yum cha dish for you. The high proportion of asian diners confirms the genuine nature of the food and the good number of regular western diners is a good indication that the staff welcome all diners. This is probably the best Yum Cha in Hornsby.

Dim sum lunch was pretty good, there was quite a diverse range on offer but also classic dishes which was nice. Some were done very well but a remember not liking the wrapped rice at all. Busy atmosphere but the staff handle it pretty well most of the time.

Taxim has great Yum Cha!!! All the trolleys, 'patrolling' slowly around the packed restaurant at lunchtime makes you feel like you're in Chinatown - not Hornsby!!

Might have to wait a bit for a table if you go on the weekends but the Yum Cha is really nice and well priced so if you can make the time it's worth the wait.

There were a lot of people when I went, so we had to wait a while for service. Also, the food took a while to get to us. However, the taste is great, and so is the value. Wide variety of foods to choose from, and the place is very clean and tidy. Also, the people are friendly.

Approximate cost: $20
