Stopped here on our way back from Clare. We were actually looking forward to returning to the cafe we tried on our way to Clare but it was closed. But I have to say we were glad in a way because we ended up here instead and had some great meals in a really family friendly atmosphere. Everyone was so nice and friendly it made our experience a lot nicer. As for the food, well it was great. My husband had the surf & turf and I had the chicken parmigiana with the all you can eat salad. We truly enjoyed our meals and felt it is a great place for families, especially if you have young children as there is a playground for them and you can easily eat your meal whilst still keeping an eye on them. Kids meals were quite cheap as well starting from around $5.50.
Overall a great experience and will be returning when in Gawler next.

went here for a birthday celerbration and found the food a tad over priced. it was really nice though. the kids room was great and allowed us to relax knwing the kids were occupied. staff were also really friendly

Good venue for taking the kids out for a meal. We had crumberd prawns and steak and were very happy with the quality and price. The kids were happy with their meals as well

The all you can eat buffet of veggies salad and dessert is great. I especially love the dessert part. If you are on a diet i would avoid this place as its hard to resist the temptation to over eat. the main courses are all tasty and my steak is always cooked to perfection

We often pop into the Southern Hotel for lunch during the week as they have great specials. The all you can eat soup,salad and dessert bar offers a fair assortment of salads, veges and desserts with two soups up for offer these are not gourmet by any means but nice basic food. I always enjoy the steaks here they have never let me down. The kids play area is loud but if you have no children with you and dine in the other dining room then you don't hear the noise. An all around nice dining experience if you are looking for a filling basic pub meal

Great pub meal for a cheap price, its a favourite for our family and friends as it has the indoor playground for the children and you are able to sit eating your meal and see through the glass windows to see your children are ok. Very relaxing place to eat

The Southern Hotel is a favourite of our family. We have four children and find this to be one of the best value for money hotels to dine at. It is a 25 min drive through scenic backhills from our home in Wynn Vale and very easily accessible. We lean towards fish and chips, and beef schnitzel with pepper sauce, both of which are very tasty and great value for money, and the kids love the playground and particularly the bolognaise pasta, and the soft serve included in the salad bar. The staff have always been friendly.

Really nice food and service. Quick meal preparation and nice salad bar. Excellent kid's play area now, just have to watch that the older kids don't bowl over the littlies!

Usually there is no problem, but the last time was not happy. The girls at the bar were too busy talking to take notice to what the customers were saying. They were borderline rude to each other and rude to the customers
