We decided to check out Soul Food Kitchen as it had recently opened. I was very disappointed. There were four of us and none of us were overly happy with our meals.
We were greeted when we entered the restaurant and seated (bookings were recomended however the night we went there was only one other table occupied). You have to go up to the counter to place your order and then select your drink from the fridge.
We ordered the Chicken Strips for entrée to share and this was probably the highlight.
We also ordered the Shrimp Gumbo, Crab cakes, Smokey Beef Burger, Oyster PoBoy and coleslaw as a side. There was one shrimp in the gumbo and the crab cakes were the size of a twenty cent piece. The beef burger was very salty and lacking flavour. The Oyster PoBoy was probably the largest dish we ordered and it was also quite plain tasting.
We didn't even bother looking at the dessert menu after the experience of the main courses.
I wouldn't want to go back and dine here again as I was not happy with the food or the prices for what we got on our plates.
