I love this website it's so comprehensive and so easy to understand for even the lay person the only criticism is they probably err to the side of
'Over' cautious

I always read smart traveller before going overseas. This time I was considering travelling to Europe via airports in the UAE (dubai, doha etc) which would reduce travel time. I was very CONCERNED when reading in the health section relating to UAE airports that certain restrictions on medicine, both prescription and non prescription medication may be illegal in the TRANSIT areas. There is mention that even if you are not carrying these items but there is evidence of it in your blood stream or urine you may face large problems under the laws in the approriate emirate. This may also apply to alcohol. Preferably, I will not be traveling with Qantas, Emirates, Ethiad or Qatar for these reasons but if you are, please check with the UAE embassy in Canberra for clarification.

Is this a new restriction? My family have travelled on airlines going through Dubai and Dohar in the last two years and never had a problem. My husband is diabetic, has a stent and uses a CPAP machine - he takes this and all his various medication in hand luggage on and off the plane. Never any problems. It was my son's batteries they didn't like. LOL
