Ok range, but I was end of season so that is to be expected. Service was great, knowledgeable, straight forward. Very good pricing. My wife also bought a lot of gear for the kids and got a great deal.
Overall, not fancy, but if they have what you want it is exceptional value.

We purchased some jackets, gloves, googles, bits and pieces last year (2009). They have a varied range of stock. Looks to be a little out dated, but reasonably priced.
The let down was the service. There were 4-5 people who i assumed worked there sitting around the counter which was situated in the middle of the lower level. None of them came to assist us, they all sat on the counter and talked. It looked like one was a mother and the rest were her young adult kids+ plus their friends.
would I go back again? Maybe... just to see how they fair with pricing. I hear they have moved locations. I'd be interested to see if their value is only because of the outdated stock or whether they just compromise service for value. If thats the case, i will happily put up with bad service for good value.

Upon recommendation of a friend I recently went to Skiman bob's where we bought ski gear for the family, a fairly costly exercise but I believed worthwhile.
Upon arrival home (4 hours from Melbourne) I was concerned regarding the sizing of a ski jacket whereupon I called the shop and asked to be sent a different size, it was explained that this would be charged to my credit card along with $20.00 postage. I accepted this and the jacket was duly sent. I returned the jacket I didn't need ( at a cost of $8.00) and called the shop approx. one week later to give details for a refund. As I still hadn't been refunded a week later I called again. I was then informed my details had been misplaced so I supplied them once again and mentioned that because I had assumed the refund had already taken place I had gone ahead and used my card causing my account to go into arrears whereupon I was charged a $25.00 fee. Not a huge amount, however as a matter of principle I asked if skiman bob's would be willing to reimburse this amount. I was given a vague answer indicating that they would. This didn't occur and when I called to ask why I was told they couldn't locate the person to whom I should speak about this matter. I understand they are in no way obligated to refund this charge but thought they might honor this in the interest of good customer service.
This coupled with the irresponsibility of losing my details in the first place and making no apparent attempt to refund my money until I called them leads me to believe they in no way value my custom, therefore future purchases of fitted ski boots and other gear will be made elsewhere.

I thought this was meant to be used for customers only. The post above was obviously from one of the managers of the store covering up for the post above it.

The store is probably the worst ski store in Melbourne. I've had experiences, and heard a lot more, like the first post - terrible staff quality, say anything for a sale, overpricing, etc. When I brought in my skis to be mounted, they lost my brake from my binding, said i never brought it in, and wouldn't give me a refund.

If you're thinking of going to this store, there are plenty of other good ski stores around the area that you should go to instead

FYI I am NOT a manager of the store nor do I have any other connection other than as a long term customer - I have used this store to tune, service and wax my skis/board for more than five years and have not experienced the issues listed. It would be best that the poster gets his facts straight about who is posting before making such comment. Relay your experiences, but don't make comments you can't substantiate.

Agree that this is the worst ski store I have dealt with in Melbourne, or in fact anywhere in Australia, Japan and Canada.

Staff advice can be misleading to ensure making a sale. I have heard the same employee on the same day give completely opposite opinions based on the customers behavior or sentiments towards a brand.
Advertising and phone price quoting is misleading - Staff will quote a discounted price on a product over the phone and will not honor the price quoted when you arrive in the store - Reported to ACCC.
Advice given on product care and maintenance can be incorrect - I took the advice on cleaning an item i purchased there and it is now rendered useless.
Customer complaint handling leaves a lot to be desired.
They do however stock some great brands and products at as expected prices, but I will not shop there again.

Need some ski equipment? Head down to Skiman in Hawthorn. They've a huge range of clothes, boots, skis and boards to enjoy the snow in the Winter. Twice yearly sales (once before season) and once towards the end of the season ensure some great buying. The staff there are very knowledgeable about all aspects of skiing and Bob travels overseas regularly to visit various resorts and try equipment. Once you've got your equipment, the guys there can service it for you too and prices are reasonable. Car parking is available at rear if the front of the store is full.
