We came here with a booking for four people on a saturday night. The place wasn't packed so we expected good service. They asked us where we wanted to sit and we asked to sit in the traditional japanese seating (with the feet underground). The only table that was avaialble with the japaense seating was a table of 8, so they asked us to sit else where, We were placed at a table write next to the split system and it was freezing cold. We asked to move and we again asked to sit at the Japanese seating, in which they finally allowed. Ordering the food and drinks were OK, the food tasted wonderful I must say, the sushi was nice (the seaweed could have been a bit more fresh as it was chewy), but everything else was nice, especially the eggplant - it was delicious! When our mains came out, we reminded them we had plain rice to go along with our mains. They said it was coming, and about 15 minutes later, it still hadn't arrived. We reminded them again and they again said it was coming. Another 10 minutes had passed, and only then did the rice come out, they apologised for the wait so it was forgiven. When it came to paying time, we showed them our entertainment card (which entitled us 25% off the bill), they said we couldn't use the card. As a civilised member of the society, we didn't argue as we thought there must be a rule that we weren't aware of. We went home and checked the entertainment book, and it appears that the card could not be used on public holidays and some special days eg mother's day etc. IT WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Not happy with that at all - there was no explanation as to why we couldn't use the card. And the whole time we were there, there was no group of 8 who wanted to sit in the Japenese seating....

I think you can contact the entertainment people when you receive this reaction. I know one of my children did once upon a time for a restaurant in Norwood

Thanks for sharing this, how disappointing. Maybe check that you can use the voucher before ordering, then they can't go back on it.

From past experience, if we advisr we have ent card at beginning of the meal they give a smaller portion of food. In regards to notifying entertainment book people, i have since done so and am waiting to hear from them.

Awesome and authentic Japanese food. Must try the Beef teppanyaki, it's different from other restaurant. The price is a bit on the high side though, but worth trying! place are quite small, make sure a you made a booking.

The food is good, and authentic, the range of dishes are quite good and they have some wonderful Japanese dishes you don't find at other Japanese restaurants, which was a bonus. The atmosphere is nice and friendly and the restaurant is beautifully designed. Would definetly go back again

Approximate cost: $25 - 30

Beautiful food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The Japanese pancakes were especially good and something we hadn't tried before. The prices for sukiyaki were a fair bit pricier than my favourite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne, but other than that the prices weren't too bad and there was a great variety. We'll certainly be going back there again!

Approximate cost: $18

Food is very authentic and great. Lovely service with a homey feeling. Can be quite busy and more difficult to have an intimate chat. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely go back again.

Excellent Japanese cuisine in a warm and friendly restaurant - great service, lovely fresh meals at excellent prices - really good for those who are not familiar with Japanese food, some beaut vegetarian options (recommend the Vegetable Zoszui and Edamamme)

We have visited this restaurant more than once and have tried both their normal table setting and their traditional sunken setting. Both are good, but the lower setting can be difficult for those getting old or who have bending problems. We were unsure whether we would like traditional Japanese food but were happily surprised at the variety and taste.

Approximate cost: $20.00

Sato is a good restaurant, has a pleasant environment and nice for chilling out. Food served is also good in terms of its quality and taste. Service is also above average. However, it is rather pricey for the food that is being served.

Approximate cost: $30
