A great place with a great atmosphere. We had delicious food there. not on the main street but worth looking for it!
We went on a sunday evening at around 8pm. Generally a non-peak time at most restaurants, not so at San Telmo, the place was buzzing when we arrived with 90% of the restaurant full.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu, including ensuring that dietary requirements were met, and water glasses were regularly topped up during the meal.
We had a number of dishes - ceviche, roasted eggplant, steak, several vegetable side dishes. Everything was delicious.
The food was beautiful but expensive for what it was worth, the fried broccoli and creme caramel is a must order, these were the star attractions, the barramundi was also good, the fried cheese was excellent but they encourage sharing and there was only 1 small triangle which could barely be cut into quarters. They also did not cut each of the starters into equal amounts, for example there were 4 adults and each starter comes one dish at a time, we had a chipotle sausage cut into 7 pieces.. That's not encouraging sharing! The menu was also very confusing, it was set out like individual dishes however they are meant for sharing however it didn't say how many people each dish was big enough for.. The menu would be more beneficial if there was a banquet to choose from if you wanted to share or individual meals to cater for those who aren't interested in sharing. It was also extremely loud, you were often shouting to get people to hear what you were saying. Overall it wasn't a horrible experience, the restaurant itself is filled with ambience, the service wasn't great but we were told they were short due to someone quitting. It's a great restaurant for couples or after work drinks as they had a great wine menu but no beer. For a table of 4 with wine, 3 starters, 4 mains, 2 sides and 4 desserts it costed $350
Classic 1st class steakhouse experience, updated in a modern and multicultural style.
This means starter/entrees such as pork & paprika chorizo (infused and spiced chorizo) and brócoli (tempura broccoli with salted ricotta)
Ojo de bife - a 500gm O'Connor premium dry aged rib eye cooked medium rare. It was seasoned beautifully with a char grilled flavour
Papas (duck fat roasted potatoes with spiced tomato and lemon aioli) and Zanahorias (broiled carrots with hazelnuts and thyme with garlic goats curd) as sides.
And to finish, Tarta Toffee (chocolate and honeycomb tart with dulce de leche and dulce de leche ice cream).
Highly recommended, a nice steakhouse experience with a nice twist.
I can say that this restaurant is fantastic. Amazing food and beverage. Also, great atmosphere and service.
I will return again. I had the steak just cooked to perfection. I did not get a chance to try the dessert because i am to full. But, i will make sure next time i will make a room for it. Note: It is a bit pricy.
Food was incredible & beverages - the cocktails are to die for, very informative service and beautifully cooked meat (fish of the day - snapper). The cheesecake I had for dessert, it was beautiful ... really mind blowing!!
this place came hightly recommended to us from friends who had experience this place before, there were various times for sittings, but we had to accept the early seating, this was ok, it took a long time for the food to come out once we ordered, the food itself was tasty, but the service was quite slow. The wine was good, and although a fairly average experience, we probably just caught them on a tough night, would recommend it though
Approximate cost: $35
