I was told that the job would take 3 men 4 days to complete so I approved the quote on that basis. The owner left the 2 apprentices after the first day. At the end of the 3rd day I said to one of the apprentices "so are you doing x tomorrow" and was surprised to be told, "no, we are on another site tomorrow". The owner returned and tried to tell me that he hadn't factored x into the original quote, but the apprentice knew otherwise, as x was the main issue that needed to be resolved and was THE reason I had engaged them in the first place. They wash concrete tools in the bird baths, left lunch rubbish and tools on site, and said that they would be back to collect, but never returned. They didn't ever wipe down the fresh concrete off the bricks but told me that I would need to do that.
