Pretty good. For a nice change of pace, this one's not only educational, but a good walk for those who need exercise.
See some awesome buildings and also go on a nice cruise
Well worth the visit

Amazing place to visit and learn some history! A great day for families and people without children. They have a lot of History here that you can learn about (make learning fun!)They also have a lovely café/gift shop that you can grab a bite to eat and get a little souvenir. Definitely a spot to check out!

This place is amazing. I didn't think it would be so interesting, but there is definetly an atmosphere about the place. It is both beautiful and eerie at the same time and left a lasting impression on me. The highlight of our trip.

This is a very worthwhile place to visit and experience a part of Australia's history (colonial and more recent). There is a lot of history here and you could easily spend a whole day if you take your time. We looked at everything quite quickly and it still took us four hours! The displays and information are very well done and informative but be warned that if you go during the week there is likely to be school children around - there were at least 5 or 6 classes when we were there. The cafe in the main building is pretty awful and I would recommend eating before you go if you can or even packing a picnic.
This is a beautiful place to visit, despite it's history!

We've been many, many times to Port Arthur and love it each time we go. Fantastic historical things to see, so many stories to learn from and although it's past was such a sad one, to visit it now still is a very peaceful and beautiful one. One of our favourite places in Tas.

I though it was a bit expensive to get it, but it did include a 20 minute cruise which was good. The whole place is just awesome. A great tribute to the history of the place.

Approximate cost: $20

The new renovations are wonderful, particularly the Visitor's Centre, which you enter through on arrival at the Historic Site!. There is a lot of interactive fun and activity in the visitor's centre and we spent a fair deal of time here before even heading out to the site. The full day entry pass is fairly expensive BUT includes a really informative (and comfy) cruise out to the Isle of the Dead. Guides information tours of the site are also included in admission. The nightly Ghost Tours are an additional cost and must be booked early, but an experience not to be missed. The lighting over the site of an evening is spectacular. Great restaurant facilities. Do allow a full day or you'll be disappointed that you had to race through.

When buying your ticket for entry to the site you also receive a ticket on the cruise. The large boat takes you around the island where convicts are buried and the area where the young boys were held. The cruise is a good way to start because you can see most of the site and get an idea about where everything is before walking around the old prison buildings.

Approximate cost: $28
