We have recently moved to Brisbane, however over the years when we have come to town we have often eaten at Poppy's because the food was very good and it was reasonably priced. We went back this morning and it was like walking in to a different cafe. There was very little choice on the menu, and what was on the menu seemed over priced. In our group one person chose eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce was runny and watery, we enquired if this is what the sauce was always like? We were told that they make their own hollandaise sauce, like it was a valid excuse for it to be so sub-par. All our poached eggs weren't cooked properly, because there was still uncooked egg white. All round the food quality was below average. Service was relatively prompt, and the staff were generally friendly. The girl making the coffees got my takeaway coffee order wrong, no big deal however my order then got pushed to the back of the queue so I had to wait another five minutes for my coffee. We won't be returning.

I love Poppy's Basket. Amazing bread and croissants in the bakery and great olives in the deli :P Has a lovely feel in store and everyone in store is nice :)

I often go here for lunch when I am at college. They have a lot of healthy options on the menu, you can choose what sort of sandwich you want and then what sort of bread you would like it on. There's plenty of quiches, salads, pies etc to choose from, the service is very quick, and the staff are charming.

Approximate cost: $10

The selection and pricing could be better, but what they do have is very very tasty! I've come here several times with knitting friends to sit, have drinks, and knit for a while, and I have never felt unwelcome or rushed (even though we've sometimes occupied seats for a good few hours!). Other places in Southbank don't seem as keen to have us, even though we're spending a good $20-30 each!

My favourite place for weekend breakfast!!! Sensational prices for fresh, delicious food - best bacon and eggs this side of town, awesome bircher museli with sheeps milk yoghurt, and a million freshly baked cakes and breads and sandwiches and salads.
Can't recommend more highly.

Approximate cost: $10.00
