I went to North Ballarat Sports Club for lunch with two friends. I had the Chicken Parmigiana with salad & chips. A real great meal. The other two meals were Porterhouse steak with salad & chip & Roast Beef & vegetables which were very enjoyable. The staff are always friendly & welcoming & the food is always fresh & flavoursome.

I recently went to the Ballarat North Sports Club to have a coffee with my friend. The reception staff acknowledged us immediately upon entry & made the sign in process effortless. Dining staff were very friendly & helpful. I enjoy going to this venue regularly, but are disgusted with the cigarette butts scattered directly outside the front door. There’s cigarette butt containers for patrons to use & signage is clear as to where smoking is permitted. However, I think management (2nd time I’ve made this comment) needs to make it clear to smokers that cigarette butts need to be placed in the containers provided & not on the ground at the front door, for all patrons to use. It’s the only negative about the club that I can see. Maybe signage enforcing fines for litterers, is necessary, to make the ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ Message clear. Best food here by the way.

My partner & I tried this club for the first time. As we got to the front entrance, the courtesy bus is parked right close to the front door & causing congestion at busy times of the day or night. I also noticed that the club management hadn't provided any bins for smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts leaving smokers no choice but to dispose of their butts all over the front garden & on the ground. It's the first thing you see as a first impression, when entering the club. Extremely poor on behalf of the club management. I hope they read this & provide cigarette butt disposal units immediately. My partner ordered Porterhouse steak & it was tough. Because my partner has Parkinson's disease, have to cut his food up & I found the steak hard to cut up even with a steak knife. I had chicken parmigiana & it was so tender & very tasty. I thought the desserts were very expensive at $9 each, even though they offer a $1 coffee or tea with dessert. We ordered lemon meringue pie & raspberry & lime tart & they were very nice. We were lucky to get a table in the bistro as they were booked out, but we arrived & there was a cancellation. Plenty of room to move in between tables & a really nice atmosphere. No screaming children running around & mainly older people so it's great for people who just want a quiet meal & conversation. Other than what we didn't enjoy, we had a great night anyway. Definitely room for improvement.

When we first arrived in Ballarat we thought it would be good to join this club and enjoy an occasional meal in the dining area. The first couple of times we went the meals were very good with a good range to choose from on the menu, but the last time we went the menu had changed, along with the chef, and there were hardly any choices and the meal was not to the previous standard. It was important to have choices because my husband is limited in what he can eat and the previous menu had given him a lot more to choose from. We were both disappointed, along with the friends we were dining with and have chosen not to return.

The club has a feedback form you can fill out. It's always a good idea to let management know how your visit went. They can't make changes otherwise. I did as I wasn't happy about a few things.

Went here with a group of 12 ladies, and we all found our meals to be satisfactory, good variety on menu, at reasonable price, with a small discount if a member. Staff members friendly and eager to assist. Lovely big room overlooking footy oval, with pokies and bingo in separate sections.

This was a case of what everyone else ordered looked great, but mine was a big disappointment. I ordered the salmon ravioli, which was very tasty, however it was basically entre size, even though it was a main. Another person on our table ordered pasta (fettucini) and their dish was of adequate size, but for some reason the ravioli is served with only 4, yes 4, pieces of ravioli! Yes, they are big for ravioli, but the dinner plate they came on still looked pretty deserted with them sitting in the middle of it. Looking around the table at everyone elses large serves of parmas, lamb's fry and fettucini only heightened my disappointment. This is the only time I have ever been left hungry after a main course. I actually had to cook something else when I got home! If they had only put an extra 2-4 pieces of ravioli on my plate I would be giving them 4-5 stars as the quality itself was actually very good. I would have even been happy to pay an extra $5 for the dish, had it been of an adequate quantity.

They have a feedback form you can fill out. You could do that on your next visit.

Was asked to leave before 1am as the last person had stopped playing the pokies i was just sitting and about to get another beer,so no warning that it was closing prior to 2am however i was given a free roadie and 4 sammys i dont think a lot of places would have done that so still rate this establishment high.

Went here with a friend and I ate fish and chips. Went home, horrible gastro. Friend had same. We had both eaten off each other's plate. Dodgy.

Gastro can also be passed on from person to person & not just via spoiled food. You need to contact management if you have had that experience, so that can check out their hygiene routine & food. Other people could have been affected also.

Great food, great service. The room wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of room. The large windows are nice, and I really liked the atmosphere. As always, I had a parma. 1 of the top 5 parmas in Ballarat!
