Stopped by last Sunday after Camberwell Market. We sat outside in the beer garden which was really nice. However the service was incredibly slow...Seemed to take forever to have our orders taken....The eggplant chips were totally delicious but the salad was small, expensive and very ordinary!!!

Reasonably priced food - although the portion size can be a bit bigger, Nataraj serves yummy tapas and various snacky foods, as well as yummy desserts!!!
The fact that it is so close to the Rivoli Theatre is a big plus - you can enjoy a movie after having a wonderful meal.

I nearly called the police when I left this restaurant. If my friend hadn't begged me, crying, to leave well enough alone, I would have.

My friend and I went there for a coffee after the movies at the Rivoli Theatre a couple of years ago. When I received my coffee, it was lukewarm. After trying to flag down the waiter, no to avail, my friend went up to the bar and requested a warmer coffee for me.

The owner/manager/whoever stopped by our table not to ask what was wrong but to yell at us. My friend is the sweetest person, always polite and unassuming, so I was surprised that her request was met with such venom. I wondered what she could possibly have said to provoke such abuse, but she was as surprised as I was.

Another cup was then plopped in front of me. It was also lukewarm. Again after trying to get the waiter's attention, my friend went up to the bar to see what was going on. Her coffee had been served hot, so none of this made sense. The owner/manager/whoever then approached our table again, grabbed our cake-to-share and coffee cups (even though my friend hadn't finished with hers) and ordered us from the restaurant.

When we stared disbelieving at each other, he began to yell louder. The party of six at the next table looked very alarmed, but no one said a word. We quickly stood up and moved towards the door.

The owner/manager/whoever physically pushed my friend out the door with a hand on her back. He then motioned to push me, but I moved too quickly for him to touch me.

He bodily threw us into the street, so mad that he didn't even ask for payment. This was the most unbelievable dining experience of my life. We are two mild-mannered middle-aged ladies who wouldn't say boo to a ghost.

My friend weighs 50 kilos sopping wet. I had a broken right arm with a cast from above the elbow to the tip of my fingers. Dead set.

My friend cried all the way home, even though she was driving. To this day we cannot figure out what compelled the guy to act that way.

I have never set foot in that place again, and my friend and I have told all our acquaintances about this incident. Nataraj lost a lot of Blackburn North and Doncaster East patrons after that unpleasant event.

Have been here a number of times for either dinner, beers, coffee or all of the above.

Great venue, with an array of seating options. In Summer it is great to sit out the front and watch the "Junction crowd" go by, or out the back in their beer garden if you'd like a more quiet setting.

The food is reasonably priced, not too over the top. I'm a big eater, though they have alot of "snacky" options on the menu for those with a smaller appetite. Out of countless meals, I've had one shocker of a steak. But I got over it, and gave them another go (less the steak) and all was fine.

Good range of wine and beer to choose from. They have thrown some interesting local beers into the mix, such as a Mildura Honey Ale.

Service is always great, although I am not sure about the green waiter uniform!

Great for those heading to the Rivoli. I have seen many an awkward movie/dinner date occur at Nataraj!

Have a crack.

this place is fantastic. very friendly staff, relaxing ambiance and cozy feel to it, i would definitely recommend for dinner, drinks or even just a coffee. conveniently located across from the rivoli this is one of the nicer restaurants in the burke rd district. recommend the tapas; felafel's, satay sticks etc and greek salad. also a great outdoor seating area.

If you're after a great place for coffee & cakes, or the late place to get together with friends this place is ideal. Casual, cozy and relaxing. They make a great chocolate souffle. Dinner is good too, but we usually go after dinner for coffee and cakes to hang around & catch up with friends.

This place has a great mixture of flavour and value. It is located across the road from Rivoli and is ideal to eat at before or after a film. If you are there on a Saturday night i'd eat after the film, simply because because of the size of this place it sometimes takes a little while for your meal.

Approximate cost: $25
