We love this fine dining restaurant! It is in Crown so we always dress up for the occasion when we go there. The food is unreal, you pay for what you get. The Service is exceptional too.

Surprisingly decent food for a hotel restaurant. Steak was cooked to perfection, medium-rare and was a quality cut of meat. Amazing selection of cocktails and desserts.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Victoria. The caramel bar is our favourite dessert whether it be dining in the restaurant or ordering room service. Cocktails are amazing!

First time we dined here and were very impressed. on arrival its a very elegant restaurant, being a sat night a band was playing live music in the front lounge.

we were seated by a friendly waitress who was very attentive to our needs and ensured our dietary requirements were met.

we ordered to share entree of beef croquettes which were exquisite filled with tender beef

for mains we had steak which were cooked to perfection. i asked for well done .. and it certainly was, some places burn the outside of the meat but the chef certainly did not do this

the side dishes cost extra $10 each .. hot chips in a generous size bowl and carrots.

beautiful meal very delicious and worth the expense! yes its pricey but entertainment card gave us 25% off the bill which was great.

Located at the Crown Metropol.
Mr Hive is a great venue with beautiful yet simple modern Australian food. In a warm elegant dining room we were greeted with friendly service.
Lovely food and great presentation throughout the whole night. The only thing which detracted was the speed of service

Had a club sandwhich with a side of some big fat hand cup chips and a pear soufflé for dessert. My partner had a steak, It was ok.. wasn't worth the hype, waiting time or price. Sad to say the chips were the best thing we've eaten there

Although the lighting in the restaurant is a little dark, it is arranged very nicely and it is quiet so you can hear each others conversation. We tried the roast chicken and it was just wonderful, better than any roast chicken I've had before. The staff were attentive and helpful. It is a lovely restaurant for a special occasion.

I've been to Mr Hive twice, but both times I only went for dessert as my partner and I had eaten elsewhere. The first time it was too busy for us to sit at the dessert bar so we just had a cocktail each and I had the Mrs Hive ice cream-vanilla studded with honeycomb and chocolate chips. The second time we sat at the dessert bar and got to watch them make our dessert. I had the chocolate/peanut slice and it was amazing. Very prettily presented. Before we left we each got a lolly bag full of their homemade lollies which were delicious. I will definitely be back here for dessert again!

We had breakfast included for Mr Hive when we stayed at Crown Metropol for our Wedding anniversary weekend. The restaurant promised up big with a beautiful, stylish and modern setting. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. We witnessed home brand juices being poured into the self serve juice station and I couldn't bring myself to drink it. I paid extra to purchase pre-made fresh juice from the front of the restaurant. I was also disappointed that the buffet was mostly wheat and meat based, but not of quality. I requested spinach separately but didn't eat too much else. The fruit was flavourless and tasted as though it had been in the fridge for some time before served. There were no nut milks available and their soy milk was not organic but thankfully gm free. I had heard such great thongs about this restaurant and the room service we had was subsequently lovely but the breakfast was just terrible, especially for the $77 per couple pricetag. We have a voucher to use from the entertainment booklet so will try dining here at night but the breakfast certainly needs improvement. For the price, I would expect beautiful organic fruits and vegetable, both a vegetable and fresh fruit juice station with a selection of fresh baked breads and pastries. Just about every five star hotel breakfast we've had internationally has been organic and starred some gorgeous chef dishes. Just didn't live up to standard.

We dined here for dinner recently and were far more impressed than the original drab two star breakfast rating. The value and quality is much better with the meals presented just beautifully. Once again, the establishment is impressively beautiful and sophisticated. I would return certainly for the dinner dining but will give the breakfast a miss until I see reviews of improvement in that area.
