Most people have a Medicare card it allows you to get free Dr's appointments or cheaper
You also need it for things like scripts and blood tests and hospital stays
Most main shops have a Medicare or one close by to lodge any forms from Dr's
Some you can only claim from your main Health fund like HBF etc
Some Dr charge over the schedule fee if you don't mind waiting you can just do medicare
Private is obv faster and you are not going to be able to choose who you see on Medicare
also with Medicare stuff you may find there is a lot of young Dr's and when you go back say 6 months or a year later you may get someone else
They now also do a Center - Link there as well I recently went to the Whit fords one with my mother and saw people handing in forms/having interviews etc
I don't think it's that great as Medicare is all ready always really busy when you go there and now you have to wait longer as one booth is taken up with people handing in forms/and having interviews etc
I wouldn't do it as there is no privacy and people are sitting right next to you and can hear your conversation
