My vist to McDonalds at The Gap on 23 June 2017 at approximately 5.45pm:

Upon my arrival with a trolley full of shopping that I had just done at Coles, and with my young six year old daughter in tow, I was greeted by a young, male employee who came outside to (not so politely), tell me the following:

"You cannot leave this trolley here. You will need to return it to Coles. It is not our responsibility to do this for you."

I responded by saying: "Are you joking?" To which I was responded with: "Well, its not part of our job to return your trolleys for you."

Now, keep in mind that this guy talked to me in this manner right in front of my young daughter. He was not welcoming. He was not polite. He was not professional. He was not courteous. He said this in a firm tone, like he was annoyed with me. I felt disgusted by his appalling behaviour, and I will be informing McDonalds Head Office of how badly I was treated by this employee.

I am a local to the area and I regularly take my daughter out for dinner to this McDonalds every fortnight on a Friday night. We have been doing this for the last two years now, but after tonight, we will be going elsewhere, as I will not be giving my money to a business, whose employees treat their customers in this manner.

I did not bother arguing the point with him, as I was just too exhausted, and a little in shock over the frosty welcome I had received by this guy!

What upset me the most though, was how he just assumed that I was going to leave the trolley there, when I was not, and I never have. I don't drive, so when I do my weekly shop, ending with dinner at Maccas, I always have to book a taxi so that my daughter and I can get home with the shopping.

When the taxi arrives, they park in the allocated parking bays, and that is where I take the trolley and that is where I leave it, as a taxi driver is not going to wait for me to walk all the way back down to the supermarket trolley bay, to return the trolley, nor should he have to.

I have never left a trolley in the McDonalds store. I have never left a trolley in the outside eating area of the McDonalds store, but I have and always do leave it behind a car parking bay, but also ensure in doing so, that it is not ever left in the way of anybody, or another driver who park in those parking bays.

I pride myself on being courteous towards others - I always think about other people - and I encourage my daughter to do the same. Its a pity that the staff of this McDonalds are not so courteous.

I have never encountered an employee with such a disgusting attitude. If he continutes to greet customers in that manner and speak to them with the same level of disrespect and contempt that he did with me, I am sure he will not be in the job for much longer at all.

I will be reporting him to McDonalds Head Office on Monday morning and notifying the McDonalds Store Manager of my complaint.
