This place is all about atmosphere and everyone could enjoy spending an evening having a few drinks here. It's always lively, beautiful location, beautiful service and beautiful food!

Have dined here on several occasions all at different times - brunch, lunch and dinner - and also with different company - with my partner; with a group of friends; and with the extended family for a function.

Meals are of a good standard but can be more expensive than other establishments in the local area; the service is always hit and miss - staff are polite in general but can be a bit distant/distracted (haven't been able to work out why) and it isn't unusual to have to wait longer than normal for meals - a bit of prompting generally gets the kitchen moving.

Despite the service issues, I do keep returning as it is a lovely location overlooking the river and parkland.

P.S. Gary's deconstructed cheese cake is to die for! If for no other reason, go at least once to try this amazing dessert!

Great location but service is a bit slow at times. Eaten here a few times and food is quality but a bit on the pricey side. Perfect place on a sunny day as the kids can play at the playground as well

As mentioned by most other reviewers, the location of The Boathouse is superb. Fabulous on a lovely day to sit out on the deck - but be prepared to put up with cigarette smoke...
The menu is not extensive and is over-priced and they have the cheek to add a surcharge to ALL credit card transactions.
My meal came as I had ordered it and was very nice (steak sandwich with a generous serve of chips) but the service leaves much to be desired. This was my third visit but I won't be heading back for a fourth in a hurry, which is a shame because the location really is lovely. Service takes too long and is generally accompanied by a side-order of poor attitude from the staff. It feels as though everything is just too much effort. I had hoped that I'd just been unlucky on previous visits but I'm afraid it's now three strikes against this establishment. As such, I'll be very reluctant to part with any more of my hard-earned at The Boathouse.

Approximate cost: $15 - $35

thanks for the useful advice ... certainly do not want to dine somewhere where there's cigarette smoke!

Food isn't bad at the Boathouse, I usually only have coffee and cake although they do serve mail meals as well. What I really like about this place is the location especially in summer it is great to sit outside and enjoy the views of the river and the many passersby. Service is usually a bit slow and sometimes you need to remind them that you are waiting still.

Have been here before but only during the week when it has been quite quiet and the service has been quite fast. They always have a nice selection of muffins, scones etc to go with a coffee.

Going on a Sunday is certainly different as the place was full on the inside. Some seats on the outside (which was fine as it gives you great views of the river) Service is slower on the weekends but this can be
expected given how busy it was.

Views are great to eat at this restaurant. Food is delicious but the service could certainly improve. Bit slow on the service but overall worth the wait.

We went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 9am. I thought the ambience was perfect - there were not too many customers, it was buzzing but not busy, and outside is a lovely view of the river. I liked the look of the wooden tables and the corner set up to look like a lounge with plenty of cushions.

Breakfast was quite pricey, I think you're paying for the name really. My partner came here since he had a craving for eggs benedict but sadly they did not appear to serve it for breakfast. They did have an 'eggs benedict pizza' though. We both ordered 'the lot' which is a slice of sourdough topped with a grilled tomato and 2 eggs with a hash brown, a few mushrooms, a pork sausage and 2 rashers of bacon. You can get the eggs poached, fried or scrambled. Both of us went for poached.

The restaurant was not busy and we got our breakfasts in about 10 minutes. One of my bacon rashers was too dry and partly inedible. The sausage was a little dry at one end. Everything else was fine. For me the hero of the dish was the poached eggs, perfectly cooked with runny yolks. My partner's favourites were the poached eggs and mushrooms. He did say that his English Breakfast tea was rather ordinary. My lemongrass/ginger tea was not very memorable either. However the food was good quality and not too stodgy.

Unlike a lot of the other reviews our service was fine. I thought our service person was very nice and friendly.

Best thing for me was the ambience, on a sunny day if you can eat in the outside section overlooking the river it would be great to catch up with friends here for a bite. I found their food prices rather high though. English breakfast tea is $3.50, lemongrass and ginger tea $4. They do coffee and hot chocolates too, soy is extra. I also noticed a selection of muffins by the register which were priced $3 and up. Big breakfast with tea for the two of us came to $45. Pricey!

Approximate cost: $10-$25 breakfast

I'll never understand how cafes get away with charging so much for tea. It's just water with a tea bag in it (and on the rare occasion you might actually get loose leaf tea instead.) At $4 a pop, you would think you'd need a degree to make it!

Thanks for another great review Champagne, I enjoyed reading it :)

Thanks! Yes the tea was forgettable but they are the masters of the poached egg. And the view outside is gorgeous. Might try a hot chocolate next time.

This place has a wonderful view and is great for a Sunday afternoon. they have a decent wine selection and a nice menu. Would be better if they has more sharing plates. Ordered the calamari salad and it was delicious, they burger they have is nice and the pizzas are lovely too.
I recommend that you book for this place as it can get really full fast.
