They've removed the salad from the mains, it's now a side order. The plate contained 1 piece of pumpkin and 1 piece of potato along with a small steak. There was more space between each item then there was on the plate. Not acceptable for @25 plus per main.

Approximate cost: $50

Lone Star used to be a pretty common restaurant, but for years now, this one at Glendale has been the only one in the entire Newcastle/Maitland/Hunter Valley area... and I understand why. Their food is always good, and you generally don't wait long (probably because the place doesn't get packed out like it used to).... however their biggest downfall is the limited menu and the price of the food. When you compare this restaurant to others that also pride themselves on doing good steak (eg. Hogs Breath) then there's simply no comparison in terms of value and variety. I do like that you get free peanuts when you dine, but that is made up for in the higher prices. This place has lost the great "saloon" feeling it once had, but I do go to Lone Star about once or twice a year for a meal.

I visit here once a year with my nephews and it has gone down., especially in atmosphere. Food was good - good size portions and a nice range on the menu. Reasonably priced for what you get. Our waitress was helpful but seemed to have too many tables to look after.
We didn't get peanuts and there was no line dancing.

We use to LOVE going to Lone Star as the food was awesome, and great priced cocktails. But my partner and I went there for dinner a week or so ago, and the menu has changed, so I don't think it is great value anymore, and it was very rushed service. Will probably go back another time to see if this was a one off bad night.

The food was good, very filling, the staff were very freindly. The only thing was they have lost the 'saloon' atmosphere, no dancing (think they were too busy)

We went to Lone Star on a Thursday night for Dinner. Must say the food was excellent, the drinks reasonable but the service was very slow.We will go again but on a quiet night or for lunch.

Approximate cost: $24.50

A group of 8 people we received burnt steak, dried out rubbery chicken, tough (couldn't cut with knife) fish. It was inedible. The poor manager was being abused by people at other tables. The steak was obviously burnt so we did not have to pay for them. The entrees, 2 bread plates and a small serve of calamari were nice. still cost us over $250.

Approximate cost: $28 to $35

I went on a Saturday night with friends. We should have made a booking as there was a bit of a wait (our fault) but we were still happy with the customer service and the overall quality of the food.

Approximate cost: $25
