Different place to go for a night out with table cooking on a hot rock. Whilst the meal was enjoyable, the cost was a bit high. The service was good but unremarkable.

For an entertaining night out with friends this could be a good option.

For something unique I would really recommend the Lava Grill. Quick service by friendly waitstaff and delicious food cooked to your liking, because you cook it yourself!
Also, if you have an Entertainment Book, then you are entitled to a discount dining experience

Welcomed into a cozy but chic little restaurant, we were served by great wait staff and our meals arrived promptly. We had so much fun cooking our food and experimenting with the various dipping sauces, plus the onion rings rock!

We went to Lava Stonegrill for my brother-in-law's 30th birthday. I must admit that I didn't understand the whole concept of the place before entering so that may have skewed my judgement a little. The whole concept of the place is that your meat is brought out raw and you cook it on a lava stone that can be used for up to 35 mins. Anyway, I ordered the Reef & Beef expecting that the beef would be raw and the seafood component would be cooked (I am not a big fan of sushi). The whole dish came out raw and had to be cooked at a cost of about $35 which I felt was a bit much for the size of the portions (2 prawns, a scallop and small piece (~100g) of beef plus small saladconsisting of cabbage, beetroot, and sprouts). We had a party of 16 people and the cooking of the meat in the unventilated room was a bit much and we were soon smoked out- it was good fun though doing a bit of a cook up on a stone- gave that real cavement feeling.
The seats were a bit of a hazard with the seat base falling off my chair (there were no screws in it) and later my mother-in-law noticed that the back of her chair was falling off- neither of us is overweight.
Desert was great but very overpriced.
Service from the staff was great considering how busy the place was.
Overall a great novelty visit, but once was enough for me

Approximate cost: $~$35
