Recent price hikes of ~80% are a total rip-off and completely unjustified. The "style-cut" that I usually get used to be $15 a few weeks ago, now they insist on $20, while the sign still says $15... Then at the end, when I want to get my track re-done, they tell me "extra $5!" - so the same haircut that cost $15 now comes with hidden and absurd fees and now costs $25!!
I made the mistake of questioning the (disclosed) $5 price increase, when the sign said $15, and was given a very rushed and almost aggressive haircut. Whoever is "managing" this store has just lost another potential long-term customer. Never again!!

Approximate cost: $25

"How to Lose a potential Long-Term Customer in 40min"
- Unprofessional lead hairdresser, blaming her junior colleague for mistakes which were due to language barriers
- Rushing the haircut session, and making the customer feel harassed

After retaining a long-term Korean hairdresser in Melbourne for the last 5 years, I had moved here recently and thought to try out Brisbane's Koogi based on some of the recommendations on this website. I called up 5 hours prior to check if they wanted my name but the male barber spoke in broken English that it was ok to just turn up.
Living outside of the city, I actually booked a paid-underground parking spot in the city for 2 hours, thinking that this would be adequate. Arriving at Koogi's, I was greeted by two Korean Barbers: a female (who was probably the lead/senior barber for the PM session) and a male barber. They were both working on prior customers but told me that is was ok to wait.

In the space of 30min, 2 new female customers turned up who apparently had prior booking. As the previous cases were finished (another 30min had now elapsed), the female dresser told her junior colleague to start on the two customers who arrived after me as they had prior bookings.
I was fairly disgruntled and alarmed at this stage as 1) My paid parking would have run out in another hour, still with two cases to go ahead of me; and 2) I was specifically told in the morning that I did not need to book. I approached the lead hairdresser with my complaints and she was skeptical and unhelpful. She also seemed to blame her junior dresser in front of all remaining customers because it was apparently he who took the phone call. Luckily, one of the customers with prior booking took pity on me and was willing to let me go before hand.

I was worked on by the junior male hairdresser. During my own hair cut, on two seperate occasions, the female hairdresser would speak down to her colleague "How much longer do you need for his haircut?", with implications that other customers were waiting. Clearly, the resulting speed with which my barber worked on could only be viewed in light of her chastisement. Although my barber maintained his professionalism the entire time, I felt as if my session had been hurried to simply get me out the door. Another point to note is that during this haircut, other barbers/workers in the complex was leaving - perhaps they could have been kept back for 30min to work on remaining customers?

So overall, I cannot recommend Koogi due to my experience. The fault does not lie with the male junior who made a mistake due to language barrier, but with the female senior/lead dresser who made this saga unsavoury and unprofessional.

I read a lot of internet reviews before trying as I always have nightmares to hairdressers due to my thick difficult to manage wavy hair. Lucky I read the reviews cos without it I couldn't have managed to even find the place! You go up the stairs just behind the kebab shop that is next to night owl.

I had a Korean girl cut my hair for me $38 without wash. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (cos many reviews I read say the hairdressers had poor command of English) and made sure she feels my hair type is suitable for the style I wanted. The girl's English is actually quite good, no problem communicating at all. The finished hairstyle was reasonable, though I found 1 bit sticking out that I had to cut off myself after washing my hair at home (she did warn me without washing my hair there she couldn't guarantee some bits may stick out). She did not try to sell me anything; in fact, when I say I wanted straightening done in the future she advised against it as my hair is already very dry and further damage is not good.

Approximate cost: $38

I got a cute haircut by a Korean hairdresser and at $30 per cut (plus $5 hairwash) its good value. I also wanted to get digital perm however the price was $200 which i thought is expensive (for shoulder length hair). There also seemed to be a bit of a language barrier between me and the hairdresser so I would recommend anyone coming here to bring lots of pictures of what they want. Overall I got a great haircut at a good price so I recommend this place especially if you want asian style hair.

I had a really good experience with my haircut at Koogi.

Several of their hairdressers don't speak much English, but they really try to understand what you're trying to convey to them. They even went to the extent of calling in a colleague who has knocked off but speaks English to come back into the salon so they can find out what exactly I'm trying to tell them. This is exceptional service!

Besides the excellent service standards, the cut that I got is good, and at a very good price of $30. I was there on a weekday at about 6pm, and didn't have to wait either. Very efficient.

Highly recommended.

Been there many times in the past years. The staff is friendly and the place is ample and modern. This place is run by Korean hair stylists. So if you want Asian hair style, I recommend this place.
