After REAL Thai food in Perth? Itsara rates highly in our book with wait staff from Thailand who actually speak Thai and understand what the food is like. More importantly, the restaurant bears the name of the cook - Itsara, who is Thai and has a background in cooking Thai food via his parents. Not only are real Thai ingredients used, but they also grow their own on premises to ensure that the flavours are authentic - now that's dedication. The base ingredients are all made from the ground up - no cans of curry paste or chilli sauce here! Ingredients are skillfully blended to make you feel like you're back in Bangkok. We were lucky to be able to order off menu and if you have the chance, ask Cress (the restaurant manaager) to see if Itsara can make Crab meat Fried Rice ("Cao pat puu")! (Oh no, now the secret is out!)

Prices are high, however it reflects the cost of the ingredients and preparation time taken to ensure authenticity.

The range of food on the menu is limited - no fish or prawn cakes, no chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves, just a range of high quality curries, salads and whole seafood items (full sized fish, prawns etc) compared to other Thai restaurants, however you are going for quality over range. What they do they do well!

We dined with relatives from Thailand and they commented on how authentic the food was too!

Approximate cost: $40
