My partner and I stayed at this hotel recently on a Groupon deal which was $229 for two nights with breakfast included, a bottle of wine and two free standard drinks in the pub downstairs.

Although the hotel itself if really dated - like the old Travelodge from the 70's - we found the room to be very clean and comfortable and it had a huge double spa in the main room which was great. You could spa and watch TV at the same time.

The location of the hotel is its greatest asset with the beautiful views of the bay (this is only for the guests on the upper floors - which we were). The bowling club is across the road and there is a pub downstairs which both have good reasonably priced food.

The breakfast buffet which was included was plentiful but of average quality.

All in all we had a great time and I would stay there again. Particularly after their refurbishments.

I booked to stay at Salamander Shores when seeking accommodation close to Nelson Bay. The motel is located very close to the beach and our room was clean. Breakfast was included in the cost of our room, and we were able to check into the room early. Conveniently located. Recommended as a good budget place for families to stay.
